Jimmy Page - Zoso
Posted by: dave marshall on 26 August 2016
Just a quick shout for all Page / Zep fans.
Jimmy's "Zoso" photo book, originally published as a collector's edition, at £395.00, is currently available on Amazon, plebs edition.
Still hardback, and something of a bargain at £26.00 methinks.
The collectors edition was bound with leather and silk-wrapped, limited to 2500 copies and signed. I thought, at the time: stuff it! I still think he can do the same with the more affordable release at £26.00.
Too freaking lazy to get on the studio and release some new material. Much easier to recycle old stuff and dump it on the gullible fans.
I have always been and will always be a fan but do not underestimate your fans intelligence.
Fair point, he seems to have done little over the last few years, other than the remasters of the Zep canon which, depending on one's point of view, was either a worthwhile project, adding something to the originals, or, alternatively, a simple recycling of old stuff.
Mind you, he's far from alone in this approach, viz Floyd, the Stones, and others.
There's a "rumoured" new album later this year, but I'm not holding my breath on that one.
'Tis a shame that he doesn't take inspiration from Planty, who's moved on from Zep, and continues to demonstrate creativity in new directions.
Still, I felt that his book, officially priced at £40.00, was a decent shout at £26.00, and, having had a first look today, I'm more than happy.

+1. Plant's continuing musical explorations are creative and inspirational from a guy that could otherwise sit back on the beach and rattle his change purse - or hire a contractor for a project he's willing to sign his name to.
David Gilmour, Paul and Ringo still out there on tour and producing new albums, doing what they love, when they could have pitched in the towel decades ago.
Not to be overly critical though. Doesn't everyone strive to work hard in their youth so they can reap the benefits later in life and simply relax and enjoy the golden years? Page doesn't really owe the world anything.

That's a refreshing perspective on things..................I hadn't really thought of it in those terms....................know what?.............you're right!
