is a cds2 front end good enough for an s1 preamp

Afternoon everyone
any comments on the above please.
This will be in a 500 system.
Many thanks

Yes it's certainly good enough. But one of the things that I've always be disappointed about is that Naim seem reluctant to showcase Statement with the CD555. But I'm just an old luddite who likes CD and vinyl!!
If Naim are happy to showcase the S1 with an NDS, then a CDS2 is more than good enough. I heard the S1 with a six pack DBL set and a 'special' Naim CD spinner and it was jaw droppingly good.
Strat, Gary, Alba, You ain't a player unless you complete the set with FM radio too ;-)

Count me in- cds2, 01 in all olive system

Id say a minimum of the cds3 + ps to sonically match the s1.
It would be fun in trying others though.
At this point I have a comforting mental image of Steve Sells et al. listening to Winifred Robinson or Peter White discussing travel insurance on You and Yours via a NAT01 through a Statement and a borrowed pair of LS3/5as.

They probably don't want to embarrass the NDS!

Seriously, though, it's disappointing, but understandable - Many have fallen for the hype of streaming/downloads, CD is sooooo yesterday (apparently), and it's far more convenient having files loaded onto whatever they use at shows, than changing CDs.
From one Luddite to another!
Hype?
Yeah, I fell for the "hype" of indoor plumbing, too.
Still prefer the silver disc and vinyl source to streaming. I guess I am old school, but it sounds soo much better......... TO ME!
Come on now, enough of this format one upmanship. We all know that wax cylinders are where it's at. It's been downhill ever since we recorded on to flat, round discs...
