Streaming youtube audio to the NDX from a PC or tablet?

It's been a while since I last posted on this forum mainly because I have been totally satisfied from my system and have managed to keep the constant upgrading urge under control. Before owning the NDX, I used to own the nDAC and utilized a PC to stream music via cable (with the help of the M2Tech Evo) with great results. Soon the ease of use of the NDX won and after making the change I never looked back.

One thing I haven't found a solution for though, is how to stream sound from a youtube video wireless streaming from a PC or tablet. Some times you can only find some pieces of music through youtube and using 1080p the quality isn't so bad as it used to be. I know devices like the SoundMate M2 that cost nothing and could solve the problem by connecting using an optical cable directly to the NDX and do the job of receiving the transmitted signal by pairing through WIFI with either a PC or a tablet/smartphone.

But shouldn't the NDX be able to do the same job all by itself? Is there any way of doing that?

Use an optical S/PDif cable from a PC, or Chromecast from a tablet.

Having to connect via cable defeats the whole purpose of having a streamer! I was looking for some program or app that could work as a UPnP client and incorporate a built in browser that would allow you to stream YouTube to the NDX.

Maybe this would be a useful feature for the NAIM app don't you agree?

Excuse my limited knowledge of streaming technology if this isn't possible...

I disagree.  Having a streamer allows me to have my entire music collection in a small box underneath a chair and browse through it much more conveniently than in racks of CDs.

The current NDX supports Bluetooth Apt-X, albeit at reduced quality compared to UPnP.
It's a function of the hardware not the Naim app (which is just a DLNA control point application).

If wireless or bluetooth would play my NAS stored high def 24bit PCM & DSD files faultlessly & reliably,  then yes.  But they don't,  so I disagree.   The same applies to web streaming,  apart from the fact that its not HD so has less data to stream,  but even so its not reliable - so I'm out.

Maybe I wasn't so clear....my NDX is connected to the rooter and to the NAS drive  via cable for reliability and optimum quality of sound. The thing I need to remain wireless though is the iPad I use to control the system (or my PC that seats in a different room). Unfortunately I can only access YouTube through these devices hence the question about streaming...
