QNAP ASSET Question - Once More With Feeling

Posted by: AndyP19 on 02 September 2016

Apologies for (another) question - I am enjoying my set up with Asset and QNAP 251+ but....

Following a problem last week sorting out artists where I deleted 'The' but still had the artist residing under 'The' = solved by using the sort configuration in Asset and doing a full power down on router, NAS and NDS.

Just had a another session of weeding out - changing wrong art, correcting album names and artist and a few "The's" that didn't move as I still had some under say 'Pretty Things and 'The Pretty Things'.

Using "Rescan detecting changes" resolved a few of the changes I'd made. Whilst, others changes mainly artwork and moving say 'The Strawbs' to 'Strawbs' refused to budge to new corrected versions.

Also, cleared cache and reset naim app.

Then I did a Rescan All - this took a while to scan all of 12,615 albums and left a few artists jumbled up so going into Lou Reed on the name app I get all the Belle and Sebastian albums!!!

Only a power down on the router, QNAP and NDS seems to resolve everything  - should I have to do a complete power down to realign all the artists with the albums, right the changed artwork and sort out the 'The's'?

I must be missing something here - any ideas?

Thanks (once again),

Andy

Once you have rescanned, clearing the app's upnp and image cache should sort everything out.

Ummm that appears to be the problem only a full power down of all items seems to right the changes in art and some of the artist movements.

I've gone through all the albums now and made all the metadata changes so hopefully a power down once a month or so won't be too much bother - just weird that even a "Rescan all" doesn't sort things out and seems to cause more problems by jumbling up certain artists/albums.

In the scheme of things not a big issue, it's just the lack of logic - or some simple oversight on my part that I can't figure out.

This sounds like the same issue  I face.  I'm forever adding new music and amending metadata of existing music so, from time to time, I will do a complete re-scan.  But I then find that the Naim app won't locate some of the directories ... and others will be wrong, either/both music and/or artwork.

A re-boot of the NAS solves the issue ... I simply have to remember to do this before attempting to select any music.

QNAP453 PRO - AssetNAS - NDX, etc.
