NAP300 DR Upgrade?
Posted by: Noogle on 05 September 2016
I'm currently running 252/SC-DR/NDX/XPS-DR into a non-DR NAP300. I'm considering spending £1495 on the DR upgrade for the NAP300. Question is whether this is the best place to spend the money or whether it would be better spent on the front end or possibly accessories e.g. Powerlines. Your thoughts please.

Whilst the SL Din / XLR cables are a significant upgrade on the stock ones, the cost is almost twice the cost of the DR upgrade for the 300, as one requires two cables at £1500 each, though there was recently a discount to be had at selected dealers.
Yes, I agree, Dave. The twin cable SL XLR is quite an investment and one that probably only makes sense if you've already invested in the rest of the SL cables i.e. interconnect and speakers cables, and so can complete the 'full loom'.

Been there, done that....................brilliant innit?
I followed forum wisdom by doing the speaker cables first, followed by the din / din Highline replacement.
I then took up an offer I couldn't refuse from my dealer to trade in my 300 for the DR version, and wasn't sure how much the twin XLR's would bring to the party, but blimey!
It's all good.
Dave.

I'd put a power supply for the 272 before either.
Wait for it, wait for it, wait for it

I have SL Speaker cables but the cost was half of the XLR cables and i am not ready psychologically to pay 3000£ for XLR interconnects
The question is having SL speaker cables but adding some other alternative better value upgrade cabling if it is worth it for XLR cables ...
Is it a full loom synergy thing with cables or you can you fix some short coming of one with the other for more balanced sound - not to analytical not too warm - ?
300DR is my last power amp so i can invest on it....
Yes, there is a significant synergy between the speaker wires and the din to XLR. Before getting the din to XLR I used Witch Hat's Hatpin very successfully with the SL speaker wires.
