Effect of power-line on Supernait 2
Posted by: hifinerdwannabe on 08 September 2016
I have a SU with a power-line which I have just put out for sale and instead I intend to buy a SN2 + a chord DAC (probably a 2qute) and I wonder if I should keep the power-line for the SN2? I have heard that the power-line will be mostly efficient with the scource and not do much for the amplification. Has anyone tried this with the SN2 and is there a significant sq-improvement?

The annual above-inflation price rise is bad enough as it is, I'm not sure hiking the price of a 200 by 25% would be a very popular move.
Nobody said to add it ato as accessory price level, like car parts if you buy a car you will pay maybe 10 times of the actual car, I think this could be similar case with powerlines maybe for more expensive pre and powers, at least they should trow one into nap300!
Why should they? Perhaps they could give you a case of wine as well?
For what I am paying, why Not!
But if I take your post as seriously it will make the naim gear sound better will be an obvious answer, unlike this forum the regular customer/ consumer is making decisions in multi brand dealers, so if adding a power cable to a 7000£ power amp will make a difference between naim brand or some other, then the powerline will or can pay it self with the new customer
Or if you are selling to your loyal fans, but loyal fans only it might decrease your revenue
Still even a naim fan might addition 250dr vs 300dr (with powerline) standart might choose 300dr thus additional revenue
That's why!
And a case of wine to a consumer who maybe spent 10,000£ ON A HIFI system is an investment
My credit card gives me birthday cake -from a top bakery- every year, not because I am smart and nice looking, it is called CRM, Google it
It does not seem unreasonable to provide a better cable with top-of-the-range equipment - if the improvement is genuine.
This might also make Powerlines more affordable for everyone.

So they could just hike the price of their amps by £53 and throw in a Powerline? Dream on!
I can see the argument: why sell a pretty high end amp and omitbthe mains cable that is known or believed to make a significant difference in most systems? Its a bit like saying we'll reduce the price by putting in a lesser power supply, then people can buy a better power supply as an optional extra. Oh...
except the cost of the cable is a lot less than a PS, and the additional cost of the cable if included should be significantly less than the aftermarket retail cost, even if the current profit margin for the cable is retained.
I added one powerline to my system about a month ago and after trying it on my Nd5, HiCap & 200 Ive settled on the 200 it did sound very good on my Lingo powering my LP12 though.

They did put the PS as a standart in 300DR at least ![]()

1. Source first / New DAC, be it a NAIM or not ($1500-2500 USD)
2. HiCap-DR ($2595 USD)
3. Power Line x 2 ($1990 USD)
4. Fraim x 2 Level ($2500 USD)
5. Other?
Your profile doesn't list any system information. Make sure you have at least NDX source before adding anything else from your list. Powerlines are probably at the very bottom of the list. Investigate Stillpoints.
