Some truly uplifting performances - Who's watching?

I've been watching it a bit. Got a glimpse of that guy with no arms playing table tennis earlier. Unbelievable stuff. And to think the poor guy suffered his injuries in a train crash.

Me too - unbelievably inspiring and uplifting.

I've also been amazed by some of the table tennis and the wheelchair tennis, but the events that have really taken my breath away have been in the swimming pool. I am able bodied, although pretty much past it now, but even at my fittest I would not have been able to compete with some of the very seriously disabled competitors.

The paralympics  passed me by up until London 2012, but I have been hooked to the telly for both the London 2012 and Brazil 2016 (which has been so much better than expected  given the adverse advance publicity) paralympics.

Surely the many amazing stories and some of the inspiring  interviews with the athletes can't help but be reflected in the way that people with disability are viewed in general society outwith the games themselves.

Stinna Tange Kaastrup (aged 16) was born without legs but handles a horse through dressage. Quite incredible to watch as she uses no ancilliary support whatsoever.
