System re-build.

Posted by: dave marshall on 25 September 2016

I've just spent the afternoon stripping down and rebuilding the entire system, including the Fraim.

Now I don't know whether it's simply relief at, having put everything back together again, I still have music at all, or whether sitting here somewhat knackered, I'm just pleased that the marathon task is finally completed, but it sounds brilliant!

No way of knowing what particular aspect the re-build contributes most to this happy outcome, but I can thoroughly recommend this course of action to everyone, should you find yourself with an otherwise empty afternoon.

My 250 burndies were sufficient

system re-build/reset --something i have been meaning to do -- but keep putting it off. in my younger days -- i would have done it without any hesitation --- but now just lifting a 500, positioning it and then having to manipulate/dress those burndies will require at least a weeks rest ...

my office/listening room is surprisingly quiet though --has been for a week now...

enjoy...

Ken,

Not sure you need to do a full rebuild. As you know you can get much of the benefit by cleaning all the contacts by inserting and reinserting cables into sockets a few times and attending to cable dressing. I can understand how you might not want to lug a 500 system about. But if you can reach behind your system and at least unplug and plug some cables a few times and then arrange your cables so they touch as little as possible (i.e. the floor, Fraim and each other) I believe you will get much of the benefit of a full rebuild. I do realise even this can be tricky and awkward to achieve depending on how much space you have around and behind your racks. If this short cut rebuild is not possible then put on some nice calming music and put all thoughts of rebuilds out of your mind. Much, much, healthier for both mind and body!!
