Qute Not Responding to Remote

Posted by: Gavin B on 26 September 2016

Hi Folks

My son's Qute is not responding to the remote. The remote is fine; it's had new batteries and can operate my ND5XS.  There's nothing blocking the remote sensor.  So, three questions:

1. In a search for relevant posts I read a suggestion of resetting the remote. What is this and how is it done?

2. I thought a factory reset of the Qute might help, but is this possible other than via the remote? If so, how is it done?

3. Any other suggestions?

Thanks for any help

From the Manual...

Setup mode is engaged by pressing the handset
setup ( ) key or pressing and holding the front panel
ok/list button.

(RTFM , took me 30 seconds to find it and I'm dyslexic!)

I did RTFM, but there's no Ok/List button on a Qute - you must be thinking of the other Uniti products. The only 'button' on the front of a Qute is the logo which (as far as I'm aware) only mutes / unmutes the device.

Any other suggestions?

  1. Hi Gavin

if you search the forum for "Different IR codes for different Naim components" you will find the top answer is a thread from 2013 called that and seven or so posts down Steve Hopkins from Naim explains how to change the codes on a remote to pair with a Naim unit, including how you can reset the Naim unit to the standard code (basically you press some defined buttons on the remote while the Unitiqute is in startup.)

This should sort it for you, but if you still are stuck then I suggest ringing Naim's support telephone line.

Incidentally, did you try your ND5XS remote on the Qute?  But anyway as his remote works on your ND5, it does sound like the Qute inadvertently got its setting altered or possibly that it's IR sensor is faulty, I suppose.

OK point taken, yes other manuals; I forgot the vestigial user interface of the Qute.

Ask Phil Harris in Support, there may be something like a network reset command.

The IR code reset thing (press Aux, i and 1 during reboot) has done the trick.  Thanks for all your help.

I'm glad you sorted it. Always good to hear how things turned out!
