NAC 102

Hi There.
I have just been offered a NAC 102 part exchange for My NAC 92. Am I right to keep looking out for a late NAC 72, or should I consider the offer?
l have a Flatcap and a Nap 90 at the moment, Il have a second Nap 90 and plan to active my Credos if I can ever find an Ixo.
cheers.
The NAC102 is a nice step up from the NAC92 - an excellent pre-amp, so definitely worth considering if the deal looks fair.
I'd add three things to Richard's comment if I may: get a napsc for the 102, get a Hicap to replace the flatcap, and a 180 will be better than an Ixo and two 90s.
I have owned both the 102 and 72. To my ears the 72 was far better but lacked the remote that the 102 has, which was really important to me. I desperately wanted the 102 to sound better and I left it in my system for 3 months. It was good but as soon as I put the 72 back it was just so much better. I sold the 102 a few days later and kept the 72 for a few more years before upgrading to 552, now that is much better than a 72 ![]()
That's what I've heard.
Cheers
I don't know about the 102 but I had a 92 with 90 and then went active with 2 X 90s, an Ixo and Flatcap using Intro speakers. I was happy at the time but looking back in reality it was a little underwhelming and I suspect a 102 with a 180 would be a better bet. The 72 might be better still but I am also unfamiliar with this pre amp.
Given the chance, would I go active with 92 Ixo and 2 x 90s again? Probably not. I think I liked the idea of an active system, but there is active and there is ACTIVE. Know what I mean?

Provided the deal prices are fair I'd take it
The 92 is not that easy selling and 92/90 is basically a Nait 3 in two cabinets, nothing wrong with that but say a 102/180 or 140 will walk over the nait in all terms.
Re. 102/72 debated by far so won't go deeper into subject, prices are going bit up so maybe purchase to draw own experience
Not a fan of the Credo I'd jump some SBL if possible
Forget active unless big wallet 52/250 snaxo etc.
Oh and do not forget a good source, not sure what you have
