Clinton - Trump Debate
Posted by: Erich on 26 September 2016
It is espected that more than 100 million people will listen to the debate. More than Regan - Carter in 1980.
Any thoughts from the forumites in the USA?

Hot off the press from Paul Ryan:
"Paul Davis Ryan is the 54th and current Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives. Ryan is a member of the Republican Party who has served as the U.S. Representative for Wisconsin's 1st congressional district since 1999."
He will not campaign with the Donald, or support him in any manor for the next 29 days.
However, he will still Endorse Him.
Definition of Endorse:
declare one's public approval or support of.
Wow!!!!!!!!
Surely if they had larger cojones the senior members of the Republican movement would have refused to have anything to do with him from the outset. I suspect more will defect if defeat looms larger.

With apologies to American forumites, according to BBC radio this morning in their analysis of the second debate, the problem for the US may not be Trump but that Clinton is such a poor alternative candidate.
Chris
Watching the swivel-eyed GOP 'religious' endorsers 'Praying for his family' is the very definition of a paralysing conflict.
Terrifying that an orange baby can get this far on money and ego...Fascinating to watch though.

I watched both debates. At first glance Trump comes over as someone who would say to you, never mind my private life and what I do with women, I will look after you, provide you with a job, and your security. Don't question my methods, leave all that to me. I am not into political correctness, but what counts I will do, and I will get the enemy before the enemy will get us. While Mrs Clinton comes across (as she likes to portray herself to the public) as the complete opposite to Trump (as she was most probably unanimously advised by her advisers), so she will state more factual things, appear reasonable, echo her experiences in office, be more specific and give out details, (she likes to show off her knowledge in detail and her familiarity to some procedures of her time in office), appear a to be a 'woman of all seasons' when it comes to security and rights of all various Americans as to their race and religion. It seems she likes to be surrounded by rich backers according to Trump.
However despite all the above Trump has raised what appears an interesting point as to Mrs Clinton's deletion of all those emails (39,000, or was it 35,000, or was it 33,000 emails - Trump appeared to mention all those different figures?) and the circumstances surrounding their deletion. If there was something to hide, I wonder how significant that secret was in comparison to some 'laddish' behaviour by Trump which occurred a decade ago? If someone was to forensically dig into both their backgrounds I wonder what skeletons would appear?

Secretary Clinton is extremely likely to be our next President.
It is a HUGE pity that President Obama has to leave office - it has been nothing short of wonderful to have a grown-up as President - something we haven't had since probably Bush 1.
Yes it is a pity, Gridlock!
But, responding to the House, Ryan seen this coming:
""The Congressional Leadership Fund is moving to protect some of the most vulnerable members of Paul Ryan's Republican majority.
Super PAC launches $10 million effort to protect House GOP
By RACHAEL BADE 08/22/16 12:01 AM EDT
A leading super PAC aligned with House Republicans will unveil a record $10 million in spending on Monday in a dozen of the most competitive House districts – a sign of the party’s efforts to rally behind Speaker Paul Ryan and avoid a down-ballot bloodbath."'
The Donald has jeopardized the House, to boot not only a sweep as it pertains checks and balances, but an vetted moderate judge loss, due to the platforms anti-Obama policy.
Now Hillary is in the position to choose a judge to her liking, perhaps more liberal.
The Donald has negated the Super PAC's 10 Million, never under estimate the Donald!

A millionaire playboy, has changed and capable of being Chief Commander of the USA!
But guess what the PEOPLE did, and casted a Protest Vote, and here we are today.
The Donald had 1% chance of Representing the RNC, and here is weeks before the general election.
The Senate could tilt towards the Left, leaving the house for the Republicans.
Well, two years will be here before you know it.
Let me think, which one endorsed the Donald?

I still have absolutely no clue what point, if any, you are trying to make.
Well, the 2nd debate just ended less than an hour, very dark and small.
In the end did the needle move in either direction? Nope
Did the Donald perform better? Yes
Most networks gave the victory to Hillary.
The above is how msnbc viewed the debate, and I tend to agree, but the big picture, will the Donald's performance stop the defections?
Well, I'm no expert, but the experts just pointed out the obvious, Hillary will be the 45th president, the Supreme court balance will shift for the first time in 45 years.
The Senate will favor the Democratic party, and one expert suggested that the House will shift to the Democratic party.
I may not be familiar with the political System in the UK, but looks like the experts and myself pretty much agree word for word.
Simple and Clear!
One expert Just stated my point, and the big picture, how will the Republican party survive.
Just think about this, the Donald selected his running mate, and when asked does he agree with his running mate's quoted statement, he responded we haven't spoken, and I disagree.
Wow!
Allante93!
Nope. Still no clue. Reads like a random collection of nonsensical statements.
I thought one commentator said it well about the second debate - Trump's campaign is like a crashing airplane, but at least he got the coffee maker working last night...
Disclaimer - I did not watch the debate - I was out making money so I can better stand a microscopically better chance to survive either one of these @zzholes. However had I been home, I could easily have found something better to do with my time. (Play guitar, listen to my system, study Italian, arrange sock drawer, take a dump,...)
In other news, the most gutless speaker of the House ever waffled yet again, saying he won't campaign with or for Trump, but will still vote for him. How anyone finds him (Ryan) credible is itself incredible - the budget plan that made him popular amongst the GOP would add trillions to the deficit - and never mind the debt.
The GOP wanted a circus for a candidate; they got it. While I HOPE they learn, I know better.

Agreed, +2
Robert De Niro, on the GOP Circus:
Bozo the Clown
"Colin Powell said it best: He's a national disaster, an embarrassment to this country," De Niro said of Trump in the clip. "It makes me so angry that this country has gotten to this point, that this fool, this BOZO has wound up where he has."
Trump may be the Clown, but Paul Ryan is the ring leader!

Hopefully, now that he has been "unshackled", he will simply talk his way out of any prospect of winning the presidency. At least, if the electorate in the US has any shred of decency, they will ensure that he doesn't win.
As an aside, from time to time I look in briefly to the Fox News channel just to gauge how they react to the debates and the build up to the US elections, and I can scarcely believe what I see and hear. The so called 'analysts' they bring to the table, along with most of the channel's presenters appear to me to be vying to out-trump Trump at every stage with their hateful innuendo and rhetoric directed towards both Hilary Clinton and Barack Obama. I understand that Fox News is an out and out supporter of the Republican Party (despite their constant assertions that they provide the only 'balanced' view on News and Politics in the US), but they really are now going too far. They have changed from being a joke (and as such, worth an occasional viewing just for amusement) to being in my opinion, downright dangerous and appallingly divisive.
I have visited the US many times, and I really can't believe that the many people I have met over the years can possibly buy in to the so called 'political' views presented by this channel, or even condone its very existence. Does Fox News have a large following in the States? Surely this channel is now taking the principle of 'Free Speech' just a little (or a lot) to far.
I have never been to Russia, or the Soviet Union as was, but I cannot believe that the State sponsored channels there can be any more blatant or biased than Fox News in their opinions or their 'balanced' reporting of domestic and International political events.

You obviously never read the Soviet paper named 'Pravda' which means 'Truth', it makes Fox news as being on the nursery slopes of propaganda.
In Pravda there's no Isvestia, in Isvestia, no Pravda!
(old Soviet joke).

You are correct in that I have never read a copy of 'Pravda'. Have you?
Have you watched 'Fox News' lately? You may be surprised by just how far they have sunk. The "nursery slopes of propaganda"? I think not! They have definitely progressed to the "Black Runs", and seem to be picking up speed day by day.
In my mind, there is one key difference. Russia purports to be a democracy, but it is obviously (under Putin at least) nothing of the kind. I am not surprised that a blatantly biased publication has free reign to support Putin's Government in whatever way they choose.
America, on the other hand, is the World's most powerful democracy (or at least they are up until Trump becomes President and decides to appoint his own "special prosecutors" to get rid of his political opponents), and so I am very surprised that a nationwide news channel such as Fox News is allowed to peddle downright lies and blatant propaganda.

Huge,
I am afraid I had to resort to Google in order to (almost) understand the joke.
What happens if you put a trumped up charge inside a sausage and heat it to cook off point?...
And this side of the pond we're still paying for the period after Gordon Brown defenestrated Prudence (despite his increasingly inaccurate assurances to parliament about "fiscal prudence").
Frank F posted:Hi Huge, that is the big worry about this election. We are still suffering from the aftermaths of Bush, God knows how long the aftermath of a Trump victory would last!

I agree Frank, but the thing that puzzles me, is how one party goes out of its way to surpress the vote.
Surpreme Court ruling:
"By ADAM LIPTAK
JUNE 25, 2013
WASHINGTON — The Supreme Court on Tuesday effectively struck down the heart of the Voting Rights Act of 1965 by a 5-to-4 vote, freeing nine states, mostly in the South, to change their election laws without advance federal approval."
The Supreme court balance has favored the GOP for nearly five decades, I can see why the Republican Party would support their candidate, even though he isn't a polished politician.
The next President will select the 9th, and deciding supreme court judge.
Not accepting President Obama's moderate nominee, may prove to be, yet another blunder of the GOP.
A change in demographics:
Minorities and Women, appears to remain a major hurdle for the RNC.
But who knows, in the end, a Global populist movement is in the making, it's not over until the fat lady sings!
Trump mania!
Allante93!
Trump vs Clinton
Republicans vs Democrats
Supreme court
"Almost immediately after news of Justice Antonin Scalia’s death broke, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) proclaimed that “this vacancy should not be filled until we have a new President.”
Of course, the House & the Senate was controlled by the Republican Party.
Just forget that the sitting President has the duty and right to appoint a supreme court justice.
Well, 90 days is enough time, but nearly a year!
"Nevertheless, in a Monday interview with a Philadelphia radio host, Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) admitted that Republicans will continue to block anyone the next president nominates to the Supreme Court — at least if that president is Hillary Clinton."
Wow!
Perhaps we need to change the Constitution.
Allante93!
If you have a democrat president, the republicans will block that as well.
The system is rife with unenlightened self-interest, cronyism and small minded partisan politics.
The Judicial Branch
The Executive Branch
The Legislative Branch
Correct Huge, that's why its all about the The Seats in the House and the Senate.
Hillary will be President, and Paul Ryan the Speaker of the House realized that, so he distanced himself from the Donald, and informed the representatives to fin for themselves, what ever it takes to stay in power!
The Senate had four seats in favor of the Republicans, it most likely will switch hands to the Democrats, but the House picked up 13 seats in 2014, which gave them an advantage of 30 seats.
Guest what, that's might be jeopardized by the Donald, hence Hilary and the Gang is hitting States that they would not normally hit, Like Arizonia, Georgia, Utah, to secure seats in the Senate and the House!
But Huge, what about the Constitution, well, perhaps it's time for an Amendment!
Those left wingers!
Allante93!
There's plenty of propaganda - all US news is propaganda. It's just sliced & colored to appeal to different subsets of population. But all designed to promote the Deep State agenda...on that there is near unanimity. There is no reporting or dialogue any more - a reporter who would actually do his or her job would not have a very long career.
"Free press" my @ss. They're stenographers, not journalists.
Who can forget Thomas Friedman and the NYT exhorting the nation to war in Iraq? In fact, name a war in the past 20 years the NYT (or WaPo) didn't love? I have also heard some pretty egregious reporting on NPR, which is supposed to be the "better" news...hardly.
CNN is pure trash too.
Faux News would be comical were it not so bad - my exposure to it is at the gym on a TV monitor (they have them everywhere) with no sound - I see some show called "The Five" and when I look at it, even though I can't hear them, I can just tell they are all saying something stupid. Sometimes I substitute my own sarcastic dialogue in my head for personal mirth and entertainment.
If you ignore the news, you are uninformed. If you watch the news, you are misinformed.
DrMark posted:

DrMark, I agree, but we're talking about quotes, out of the Mouth of our representatives, and when it hits the press, then they back up, and restate the same stupid words, in another manner.
John McCain backs off promise Republicans would block Clinton Supreme Court nominees
Give it a read, if interested:
http://www.chicagotribune.com/...-20161017-story.html
"If Republicans were in fact "united against any Supreme Court nominee that Hillary Clinton . . . would put up," that could mean the Supreme Court would remain an eight-member body indefinitely -- and perhaps force a change to Senate rules allowing for simple-majority confirmation of Supreme Court nominees."
So, perhaps its time to change the rules, unless the Donald can pull this off!
Then, its ok to select and Right wing Supreme court justice, and retain the 5-4 favor that has existed for nearly 5 decades!
Just like kids on the Playground, my way, or no way!
Politics!
Allante93!
Oh it is all partisan infighting over the stuff (primarily social issues) the Deep State doesn't care about. It's all part of the strategy to keep us arguing and at each others' throats while the 1% controls everything. (And runs it into the ground in the process.) Emphasize the differences, not what brings us together. The politics of race. The politics of envy. The politics of religion. Hell, the politics of politics for that matter.
As long as the populace thinks they have a say in their own destiny and have something to fight over, they ignore the blatant raping of their country done right out in the open for all to see. But the American populace is by and large poorly educated and not very bright, so they are easy prey. Just tell them what to think.
But the "radical center" works for the Deep State from both parties. These are the unelected power brokers (and their corporate patrons) who really pull the strings, who now infest the US government like maggots on meat.
I have never really been to Arizona (save for a plane change in an airport, and I cannot recall whether it was Phoenix or Tucson) but it must be an awful place to keep electing that scumbag McCain. He's definitely on my happy dance list reserved for the day he dies. Too bag Lindsey Graham is there to step in when he does.
Politics in America has become 100% about right and left, not right and wrong...and they're ALL wrong.
