Forum Update Discussion

Why is it being hidden in Padded Cell?, after all there isn't even a link to the Padded Cell from the links at the top of the page.

Is it because it has got even worse? Even more of the screen space going to waste?

Just pull the plug on Hope.Less, and catheterise them with red hot pokers for taking a working forum and f'ing it up.

Note for Paul:- Please note that we whinge and whine and rant because we care. Not because we like to bitch and moan, but because we care. The forum is a fantastic resource, bith pre and post sales, and we are steadily losing the contributions of people who have a lot to offer.

Please stop the rot.

Whatever has been changed - it has certainly got a lot worse in the last 24 hours!

All the tool bars have disappeared and the text dissappears when I put the mouse over it!

This is from two different machines, one using Firefox (latest version) and one with IE7.

Please retun it to how it was a couple of days ago! Or sort out the new problems.

The dissapearing text is a real bummer!

I really don't care what the Forum looks like - as long as I can actually read what people post

Wearing one of my hats from my software design and code release days - this is somewhere between Beta and Alpha version - it should not be released and running on the live forum.

If there was any testing with different browser versions - it was shoddy. I would have been dismissed if I'd been responsible for this release onto a live site.

Whatever contract Naim have with Hoop-la they should expect better than this - this is downright embarressing!

Initial teething problems a few months ago is one thing, we were starting to get somewhere - but... I won't say anymore.

I find myself less interested in whether or not the forum is any good, and more interested in what the dissatisfied consumers of a web-based service can do about it, apart from vote with their feet.

For instance they might want to do something positive and start their own forum.

Paul, Moderators, Naim team

You really have my sympathies.  You have taken a huge amount of feedback from Forum users about the appearance & functionality of the new format Hoop-La forum.  Much of that feedback has been brutally direct.

Yet you have absorbed all the punches and responded with unfailing good grace.

Worse still, the failings do not appear to be of your making but that of a supplier, whose product development process and quality management leaves (cough) something to be desired.

We are an immensely loyal (fanatical?) bunch, which is why the feedback comes so thick, fast and at times direct to the point of impolite.  It's because we care about your company, its products and your service with a passion.

Darke Bear (as is frequently the case) has made some well targeted and astute observations.

I shall not be leaving the forum on account of its appearance or clunky functionality.

However, at some point even Naim must want to throw in the towel and go with another provider.

Whatever you decide to do, good luck.  If you decide to make a step change and communicate this to forum members at the right time, then I am sure that we will happily follow (okay, that's too much, but you've got to let us grumble a bit )

I moved the last thread to the padded cell. This one will go there too. It's a more appropriate room for such discussion. No hiding, you know where the PC is. Hifi corner is best left to hifi discussion, help etc..

Yes, not sure whether the changes in the last 24 hours get my vote either, but weirdly it now looks better on safari on my iPhone, even if I don't like it on the pc.

Anyway, whatever it looks like a forum is about the quality of discussion and contribution. I'm sure naim will keep bashing away at the developers to get the look right. Eventually...

Actually, Richard, the original thread was on a sticky at the top of all rooms, then it got quietly sidelined, and then ignored. And as I pointed out Padded Cell doesn't even have a link to it from the top quick links, unlike Music Room, HiFi Corner, Streaming Audio and Home Theatre.

One might be tempted to ask why Home Theatre warrants a quick link and Padded Cell gets relegated to the bottom. It can't be anything to do with the focus of the product range, so "Marketing Decision" hardly counts.

And that it is why I posted it in HiFi Corner, because the appalling train wreck that Hope.Less is making of this resource. I mean if you, as the most visible Admin, are taken by surprise by changes (I refuse to class them as upgrades, as they aren't even bugfixes) it is hardly surprising that many users are really upset. And quite a lot of others are so disappointed they aren't posting anywhere near as much, or in some cases, not at all.

I'm finding all this completely bizarre.

After three weeks away on holiday the whole website appears to have gone bonkers.

A post from Paul (from 2010)  appears at top of recent - merely because someone has added to it.

The ridiculous Tags service still has AelivĂ© in Bergambacht in there. Do a search, one post pops up.

I'm pretty sure (although I'm no expert) that even I could a better job than this at setting up a website for users.

Depressing - but at least my Naim gear sounds good.

Since things seem to have got better - I will say some more.

This is much better than the other day, I can actually read posts without them dissappearing!

I'm otherwise not that fussed, as long as I can read, post and search I'm happy.

YOU CAN'T POLISH A TURD....................FLUSH IT!!!

Strangely, very, very strangely, Hoop.La allowed me to set up a site called Naim.

I've now deleted. But I find it astonishing.

Less astonishing was where I wanted ads to be placed, upgrade account etc.

Take that as you find it.
