Linn Urika connection to NAC 252

Posted by: Adam Zielinski on 01 October 2016

Hi

Currently running my LP12 with a Urika connected via Linn-supplied RCA-RCA cables (using RCA Aux2 input).
I'm thinking about upgrading those, as part of an upcoming LP12 upgrade (changing a sub-chassis and an arm).

Any experiences, suggestions?

For example would say, SuperLumina RCA > DIN be a noticable and worthwile improvement?

Thanks,

Adam

Debs and Chris thanks for your replies. It seems SL is outcompeted here, also nice that Nac A5 is working well with Chord SSA interconnects, I would need 9m lengths of SL (or possibly a chord option) and I guess that would start approaching a 552 (used) upgrade cost...

Debs, I am not sure I wanted to read that cds3 remark! but I guess I already suspected that
Slightly of topic, I see you have cds3/ps555DR, did you upgrade from the original ps555? If so, what was your impressions with the upgrade and how does it compare to a HL-Chord SSA upgrade? (All my black boxes are now roughly 10 years old and pre DR, so service is imminent)

Long-story-short; a couple of years ago i purchased a fairly newish PS555DR and a fairly newish burndy cable which i also needed, both at a good deal pre-owned prices from Cymbiosis.

So i don't actually know how a non-DR PS555 would sound with the CDS3, however i can confirm i'm very pleased with how my CDS3 player performs and i enjoy it everyday.

Upgrading from Naim HL to Chord SSA is a revelation, a huge upgrade, and i had no qualms about trading in the HL cable to soften the blow of the SSA cable price. It's where and when a good dealer comes in handy, it maybe better cost effective for you to trade in your non-DR PS555 for a newer pre-owned PS555DR...?

Also a good dealer will allow you to home demo the Chord cables, the LP12 Urika to pre is a trampolin off to fit job so maybe best left up to a dealer but the DIN-DIN of the CDS3 player is very easy to try at home for demo.

Good luck with whichever you choose : )
