Muso Qb - unexpected evening tonight
Posted by: Penarth Blues on 01 October 2016
Having posted earlier this year that I wasn't that impressed with the Muso-Qb for various reasons, this evening has somewhat startled me.
We had 10 people round for food, mainly family, grown up children and 3 of their friends. I'd moved the Muso Qb into the dining room to provide some background music - which it did very well and unobtrusively.
As the evening moved on and the drink took hold, my daughter started playing a few songs with a bit more of a beat to them. Now normally we'd not turn things up too much as that part of the house adjoins the neighbours, but on this occasion they were out so the volume rapidly rose to the maximum 60 that I'd set on the Naim App. The Muso had already started to come alive at this stage and I was more than a bit surprised (not sure why I was surprised) at how together it still sounded at what I considered quite a volume.
However, my better half then asked if could be turned up further still as the dancing started. It was at this point I became truly gobsmacked by what the little Muso Qb was capable of. It is no word of a lie to say I think it is better as a house party music source than my main system. It went truly loud with full bass and really well delivered sound across the spectrum. It was not of the same quality as my main system but no-one's listening for the fidelity at this point, they just want the drive of the music - and the little Naim delivers that in bucketloads. As the volume made its way up to 90 we fed it Sandstorm by Darude and ResuRection by PPK through Spotify and it was like being in an Ibiza Nightclub in terms of volume and presence.
The little Qb is an animal - and I withdraw my earlier criticism about what it really brings to the party. I now know that it is the soul of the party. This piece of equipment is truly amazing and if you need loud, coherent and fun in a small portable package then I think this is probably as good as it currently gets.
