Chrome Bumpers!!!

Posted by: Gurbinder on 02 October 2016

Good Morning,

Some of you guys are aware of my quest to make a vinyl system.

so the latest is the Uniti 2 has gone and I am the proud owner of the following 32.5/Hicap/140.

I have some question if you guys don't mind answering:

1, What is the switch on/off process of the system?

2, When switching off should I get a clip from the speakers?

3, The power knob is slightly loose on my 140, what would the fix be?

4, This really should be question 1, the phono/RCA leads on the my RP6 does not fit into the back of the 32.5 is there adaptors that are required.

So after the long wait I can't play any music on this fine Sunday morning!!!!

Thanks in advance

once again thanks

Great set up!!

From off:

Power up Pre from Hicap by switch on Hicap then switch on Power Amp.

Turn off, power down Power amp first then power down Hicap to switch off pre.

For best results leave it all powered up.

Regards,

Mark

Following on...

Probably a grub screw loose on the 140 knob.

You'll need BNC/RCA adapters for the phono input, about £5 from Maplins.  The stock 32.5 came with BNC sockets for the phono input.

A thum is perfectly normal when switching off, there is usually a loutish one then a softer one.

Have fun!

Note to self.  Do not type while operating a VPI RCM, it's too much of a distraction!!!

I'm sure you can break the code mind!

Avoid those BNC/RCA adaptors, they are really degrading performance

Offcourse you can use them shortly  period but in the longer run change to phono in your preamp or better yet change the Rega leads to BNC. Allmost day and night diff and a pretty much free upgrade apart from the technician wages soldering job.

If phonoboards inside they should be named 322 for Rega Elys, Exact or Bias.

I bought some tonearm cable plug bnc's are they good?

This is really hard work with all the questions guys, thanks with all your help and patience.

i hope it's worth it

That's impossible one to answer, but BNC plugs are what you want. Be aware that they are really hard to solder, you need to know what you are doing.

I will get one of my technicians to fit them
