Another great musician passed away....

indeed. was recording him only a few months ago at Air studios. He was still as sharp as a razor, despite being 92. Huge fun, huge personality.

An amazing man. Long after retiring, he kept on conducting his orchestra. His Barbiere, with Baltsa and Araiza at the start of their careers, remains a towering achievement.

Cheers

I am not 10% (1%?) of the "classical music" aficionado of many on this forum, but his is a name I know and possess several of his recordings. For a neophyte like myself to know him, it shows how large his legend is. Amazing that he was still recording and on his game at 92.

A sad loss indeed, he has left many fine recordings that will always remind me of him.

Very few people leave such a legacy.

An excellent box set (The Argo years).  Shows just how versatile he was.
