Posted by: Tony2011 on 10 October 2016

Fo those looking for something a little more sophisticated...
Muso - £1195
Muso Qb - 750
Further details please head to the What Hi Fi web site.
Can I buy the cover only
?
And for those who have not received an email from Naim yet, here is a link.
The knurled control knob is a simple stroke of genius and should create a perfect tactile link between the Bentley cars and the NfB Mu-Sos.
Damn... I think I want one!
The new items are 'sophisticated' in the sense that they cost more. Is that all?
If you need to ask etc...
i hate any Ferrari t-shirts, hats, computer, mouse anything loged Ferrari other than the car.
Makes me think that giving the signal of " i want the car, cannot buy it so i am buying these red stuff "
will there be a Naim edition of the Car? Black/with a green light in front like night rider....

I'd expect most buyers will have the Bentley and already know about Naim as they have the Salisbury designed sound system in their motor of choice. You'd be a bit daft buying a more expensive product with Bentley logo and style cues if you didn't...
Emre, I think this is rather different; for one thing, the Mu-So came about from the work Naim undertook developing the Naim for Bentley in-car system. So it's rather fitting that the Mu-So has been subtly made-over to celebrate the Naim for Bentley relationship. The link between the two is made clear and for those who would like a Naim for Bentley system but can't stretch to the cost of the wrapper, this is a rather nice consolation prize.
It's about as far from sticking a logo on cheap trinkets as you can get.
I was in JL buying a new kettle the other week and the Siemens model was branded Siemens -Porsche.
Porsche is the designer / design company - like Pininfarina...
Still will it be sound like Muso, Looks like Muso then it is a Muso. Except the branding and price?
Lets celebrate with a discount rather then premium pricing next time it will be more celebration for us an less for Naim ![]()
It was still a Siemans kettle!
An unprecedented opportunity to use the words "Naim", "Bentley" and "tacky" in the same sentence.
Naim used to be all about the sound and the music; now they find time to indulge in this pointless tarting up while failing to deliver promised updates to their streaming software.
It is also important to note that this helps solidify the relationship between Naim and Bentley *within the bentley dealership*. Ticking the "NFB" box for your new car is not a cheap thing to do, and added on a QB or something like that is a v nice interim item to help cement that dealer relationship.
It validates the NFB relationship in the eyes of the customers, who realise that this is not just a quick-fix badge engineering job done by Harman in Karlsbad-Ittersbach... ooops, did I type that? I know I thought it... <blush>
This really comes as no surprise. Once Naim decided to enter the 'lifestyle' market (and it's debatable whether or not that happened with the Uniti range or Muso) this was inevitable. Kef and Porsche, JBL and Ferrari - doubtless the list will continue to grow. Does it really matter? Provided each of Naim's customers are able to buy the quality of sound reproduction they desire then the market is working satisfactorily. Debate on exclusivity, elitism, affordability etc. Is meaningless and, ultimately, pointless. If you don't like it, shop elsewhere.
Well done to you guys at Naim and Bentley.
Ignore the provincial mentality of people who must have a very secluded life.

And you really expect the marketing staff and case designers (because that's all this is) to be writing code for their streamers as well? I sure hope not...
Leica et al have been doing this for decades. Once the tooling is up not hard to make few tweaks for a special edition. Gives staff something to do in-between major releases, keeps their name out there, and improves relationships with partners. Sure there are going to be those that think it is 'tacky' but they're not the target audience, so I doubt they care. It's not like they break the rest of the line. My brassed and worn Leica M9 from 2009 doesn't stop working when Leica release a new special edition. It just ignores it and keeps on clicking.
You can't do the right thing can you?
- Muso - dumbing down.
- Uniti - Lifestyle products, not hi-fi.
- Classic pre-amps - redundant, too many selectors.
- CD players - redundant.
- Statement - elitist.
Sod it - let's go back 40 years shall we? Selling a few pre and power amps, employ a dozen people or so, no export market, no Queen's award.
Get over it.

A brave attempt to defend the concept - I can't help finding the whole exercice pointless, and vulgar to boot.
Just the kind of thing to degrade Naim's image among real hifi connoisseurs.

Are you aiming for self-indulged prima donna of the year award?
Are you aiming for self-indulged prima donna of the year award?
Er, not quite sure what you mean... perhaps you could expatiate on that.
Naim never used to build equipment so obviously designed with style in mind. I do admit that "hifi connoisseurs" was a bit over the top - I certainly don't see myself as one, but I will repeat that the exercice is pointless.

Are you one of them by any chance? Usually people who DO know about hi fi are a lot humbler and don't talk using their posterior.

Not slapping any wrists here but please do keep things civil ... everyone is entitled to an opinion ...
... even if it's contentious.
Debate is healthy and good for the soul - discussion and open mindedness and all that stuff...
(This is me trying to be diplomatic by the way...)

Point taken Phil, although I don't always agree with democracy and diplomacy does not always work (just look at the world around us)and I always choose my words carefully in order to not cause distress to any parts involved. It's not personal and everyone's got one.
Apologies!
It seems to me that there aren't that many positive comments on this thread...
Sorry if I offended those of you who feel that whatever Naim does is good. And, Tony2011, I still use my 1979 Nac22/Nap120 everyday (bought new), that certainly doesn't make me a hifi buff, but it shows at least I've been familiar with Naim hifi for many years. To my mind, it's the first time Naim has produced a rebadged version of one of their designs, and I feel it's pointless. Louis Vuitton next?

And I still have a 1976 NAC12. I'll let you carry on Sir....
