MUSIC to my ears !

Posted by: rjstaines on 15 October 2016

I just passed the 200 hour ‘burn in’ period with my Chord Music din-din, connecting my NDS to my 552.

I started a few years back with a Hi-Line then moved to a Super Lumia last year bringing, as you’d expect, a big improvement in overall sound quality.

But then, early this year, I tried out a Chord Sarum Super Array and kept it.  The sound stage opened wide (we’re not talking Grand Canyon wide,  just wider than I’d heard before).  And the detail that came through was even greater than I’d heard with the S/L, and that’s saying something.

And then, a few weeks ago I swapped the Sarum SA for a brand new Chord Music cable, courtesy of those nice chaps who play cymbols near Leicester (I trust that’s not advertising, Richard?).

I’m not prone to using phrases like ‘blown away’ to describe bits of copper wire, but, gosh, right out of the box these Music wires sounded good.  And having racked up 200+ continuous hours, last night I sat down to listen seriously.  I was blown away !

There is just more of everything.  Not a very useful description I agree, but that’s what there is.  There is a wider still sound stage (still not GC), there is more mid-range and bass in spades.  I’m hearing backing tracks I’ve never noticed before… it really is amazing.

So if anyone is contemplating spending the equivalent of a SuperUniti or an XPS on an interconnect, and is doubting their own sanity at such a purchase… doubt no more.  This Music cable is worth every penny of its £3,500 price tag, no matter what your disposable income level may be.

Roger,

Good result. On a lower level I have recently changed my Hiline for a Signature TA and the lift in the music from my CDS3 is so apparent.

I have been using a ChordMusic rca/rca between my Rega Isis and Osiris since early in the year and can only concur with Roger.

Mine cost £3800 but again worth every penny.

Whoever came up with the name  'Music' certainly hit the nail on the head.

Not on the forum anywhere near as I used to be however certain threads still cue my interest!

I have gone from the original Sarum TA to Super TA on both my Urika and Klimax DS (you could sort of say I was a guinea pig for the original Sarum).

My good friend Mark (Varyat) has just come back from the UK and has been around to see our dealer outside of Leicester.  He had a list from me of some extensive demos to undertake - ( why not as I demoed Titans for the both of us several years ago) - and came back blown away by the MUSIC cable.

Cue to November and I will be having my Super TA replaced with MUSIC.  I can't wait - thank you Roger for the confirmation!  Now the only thing to contemplate is what to do with the Super TA on my Klimax DS/2.  A good chunk of funds are going to upgrade it to the new KDS/3 so I do not know what will remain for the cable.

Is it possible to block this thread? I really don't want this information

I feel the exact same

Mark also said the SLumina - NACA - Sarum speaker cable demo was rather decisive. The Chord boys definitely know their stuff

Spent the best part of an hour in the Chord cables demo at Hammersmith today. Worrying stuff (wallet-wise that is).

I don't believe there is MUSIC speaker cable- only Sarum??? (as that isn't bad enough (price wise speaking)

I wish I have not read this....

I'm seriously jealous.... Probably best if I don't audition.....but to all those that have taken the plunge..... Congratulations,  it seems in this case you get what you pay for..

And I was wondering how to justify the Super Sarum ARAY let alone the Music! If you're thinking of part exchanging your SSA ...

"more of everything"- totally agree Roger  ! The cable seems to disappear and just let the music come through- pun intended .

I no longer use a CD player, but with the Urika this was quite clear to hear. Pretty cool stuff...

There doesn't seeem to be the "like" function for this post Roger....so I won't like it then!!!

Great read and really interested on this as I thought the SL was the last word on cables.

My rule too, Wenger....  if my credit card can't aford it, I prefer not to audition it.    In fact I'm entering a period of a self-imposed 10 mile exclusion zone around my local dealer in Chester;   thing is, though, I live about 120 miles from Leicester so that's outside the exclusion zone

(Fingers in ears)...Lalalalala....RJ, you're a very naughty boy! I'll continue to slum it with the Super Sarum. The speaker cable seems interesting. For my system it'll only be £55K. Might as well go ahead and order.

I suspect that you could buy the Sarum Super ARAY first and then upgrade later- or just do one at a time (left first obviously)
