Price increase for new uniti..

Posted by: engjoo on 24 October 2016

Did you guys heard of the price increase with the unit range ? Yes and that happen within 2-3 weeks of product announcement and even before the first unit reaches its owner.

While I can perfectly understand the reason behind the price increase, what concerns me is the timing of it. Shouldn't Naim have waited for the adjustment that happens in April every year?

What were the prices before - what are they now?

In passing - they haven't really 'had a price' yet as they haven't come to market.

If estimated retail prices have been revise upwards - interesting but please add detail and source.

Otherwise it is, yet more, rumour.

FWIW, Naim doesn't set retail prices, they only set the price they sell at to the retailer. It's against UK and EU (yes, we're still members) law to for Naim exert pressure on retailers with regards to retail prices. The Naim 'recommended' price actually means almost nothing.

Maybe its the effect of Brexit vote starting to bite: with about a 16% reduction in exchange rates with far eastern cureencies - and indeed most others- it is inevitable that many component costs will increase, and this wouldn't be the first product range to feel it - and as the products haven't yet been released it would make more sense to adjust beforehand rather than shortly after, even if the latter would obviously benefit early purchasers.
