Unitiqute lost connection

Posted by: KenRose on 26 October 2016

Would love some help.  My unitiqute plays analog, is hooked up to wifi, but for whatever reason cannot connect to my music.  I have deleted the app and re-downloaded it.  Used the remote.  Restarted the computer.  Re-installed Playback.  Nothing is working.  Any assistance would be great.

Ken so your music is stored on a computer? Are you using a upnp server? (Maybe that is what Playback is?)

Also is your UQ actually getting an IP address from your router? You can check using the remote and starting from the wrench or spanner button.

Does the Naim app see the music? I am assuming it can see the UQ? It won't see it if the UQ doesn't have an IP address.

Hi David,

Thanks for your reply.  Music is stored on my mac and I'm using an upnp server (which is quay playback).  The UQ is finding my wifi but I don't know if it's found the IP address.  No it cannot see the server, I'm getting the "no server" warning.

Hi Ken,

Basically you need to identify what bit of the chain that makes up the system isn't working correctly and then resolve that so lets take a simplistic walk through resolving it...

When you say you cannot get to your music then what music are you referring to? UPnP (I presume)? TIDAL? Spotify? Internet Radio?

How is your Qute connected to your network? Are you using any Ethernet Over Mains devices in the chain?

Is the app connecting to your Qute? if it is then both your app and your Qute are correctly connected to your network and are seeing each other.

Can you get to Internet Radio? If you can then you are connected to the outside world correctly.

On the assumption that it's UPnP that isn't working for you then what UPnP server are you using? How is it connected to your network?

If you can't "see" your UPnP server from the app then see if you can see it from the Qute itself using the remote control and front display, if you have an iOS device then try popping "8 Player Lite" (it's free) on your iPhone / iPad and see if 8 Player Lite can see your UPnP server, this will help identify whether it's an app issue or whether it's a network issue or whether it's a UPnP server issue.

Maybe, as a test, give Asset UPnP a try on your computer to see if you have the same issues with that?

All problems can be resolved by a little investigation and appropriate rectification...

I suppose it is worth asking, has it previously worked?  If it has have you changed anything?  If it wifi or a wired network and are all the devices on the same network.  I know it's extra money but it's well worth buying a NAS and having a wired network and a switch if it's at all possible.
