Superuniti roadtrip

Posted by: Chico on 28 October 2016

So exciting times ahead for me.. roadtrip from Holland to Germany tomorrow  to pick up a pre loved superuniti.

Prices are dropping due to the introduction of the new Uniti line i guess, so i can pick up one for a reasonable price. Still a lot of money, but this is what i have my mind set up.

I've got a pair of Tannoy Definition DC8 standmounts, before powerd by a qute/nap100.. soon to be fed by the (former) top dog Superuniti. can't wait.

Sounds great Chico. The SU is a great piece of kit and will make the most of your lovely speakers. It will probably be all the amp you will ever need.

Nice one. Enjoy!

Yes looking forward to wire it up here. For me the one box Superuniti is a great option.. looks good aesthetically. Togheter with my beautifull Tannoys will make a great combo (for me also important.. i need good sound and pleasing for the eye) and for at least some years no urge to upgrade.. the Uniti Nova however

So the roadtrip to Germany turned out fine.. now a proud owner of a Superuniti. Sounds great (though the uq2/nap100 was almost on the same level) been listening to a to z.. all is fine.

Hi Chico

Did you check the firmware level of theSuperUniti? The reason I ask is that the latest production firmware is generally thought to make the SU sound better than earlier firmware releases. There is supposed to be another firmware release in preparation, to improve the Tidal performance, but that isn't available yet.

Its a fairly straightforward job to do a firmware upgrade on a SU and doesn't cost anything.

Great advice David. Will check it. Tidal is installed on it so there has been some kind of firmware upgrade.

Chico, did I read that correctly that your SU is just slightly better than the UQ2/100?  I have an original UQ and am thinking of my next step.  Either Atom, SU, or....Muso lol

I also moved from a UQ2/NAP100 to a SU and I am really happy with the upgrade. In my case I have a pair of PCM GB1i and I notice a great improvement moving from the UQ2/100 to the SU.

Well i do think the uq2/nap 100 is a great combo.. the Superuniti is more of everything but you have to justify for yourself if its worth the extra money..
