Posted by: PTCM on 30 October 2016

Quick question regarding the NDX FM tuner function,  how could I check if my NDX comes with it?

if yes, where could I enter the FM radio channel no. ie 88.1 or whatever?

anyone here getting FM radio signal on your NDX ?

Thanks.

What's happening?!! It's no NAT01 according to the forum.

(I realise this doesn't answer your question).

You buy the NDX with the FM/DAB option.  If you are buying a used model,  look for the FM/DAB aerial socket,  its an F (screw) type.   The initial set up is very easy, it scans the FM & DAB bands & stores the stations.   Although I already had a NAT-05 (FM), I demo'd the FM/DAB option as I was interested in the many DAB only stations,  but quickly decided no sale as I much prefered iRadio that has better SQ than DAB,  & is (in some respects) as good/better than FM.

I had no idea that the NDX could be supplied with a radio function other than internet radio. Is this a new feature? Is it also available for the NDS?

It was an option from the intro of NDX.  Not available on NDS

Hi PTCM,

WHen you scroll through the inputs, if fm or dab module

is fitted the imput selection on the screen will indicate fm, or dab.

whilst the fm is great, it is not as good as my NAT02

hope that helps

Thanks Mike and Hilz.

checked mine. Unfor it doesn't have it. I was thinking of selling my NAT05 and get a XPS DR to supercharge the NDX. Now the justification is not as strong .....

I listen to the BBCs high definition streams via my NDS but keep the NAT01 for those many times when my broadband stream implodes due to my daughter's on-line habits! Talking of which just back from a Portugal and some colossal donwnload speeds - now back home to 7 MPs with a fair wind....

But surely your NAT01 thrashes the pants off the NDS on any BBC broadcast. I have both, but just never use the radio channels on the NDS, preferring the NAT01 every time.

For me - albeit with a NAT-05 - only BBC R3 is better on FM.     iRadio - provided its 320kbs (BBC HLS) - has better/more high frequency presence as FM is limited by a pilot tone filter & has better dynamics & stronger bass,  probably because web radio has less or no compression.   That said the low bit rate stations are pretty awful.

NDX with an FM/DAB module has an antena input on the back. The cool thing is if it's running with an nDAC, even the FM signal will go throuhg the digital output
