Listening Clubs Tantalize Audiophiles in London

Posted by: Naim Gary on 31 October 2016

Hey All,

A friend sent me this NY Times article with the above title. Even though it is not about Naim gear I still thought it had a place in the "Hi-Fi Corner" as it is talking about higher fidelity listening to music - in this case in public spaces. I never posted something like this before, just thought it might be of interest especially if it is the start of a movement...

Enjoy,

Gary - who lives a long way from London...

Good to see Living Voice getting a mention.

Thx for sharing.

Thanks for the link Jan-Erik. I mostly read and stay on the Hi-Fi Corner when I come on the Naim Forum... occasionally the Music Room but mostly never go to The Padded Cell. It was good to see the other thread.

I went to an event last year at Sarm Studios (30th anniversary of Frankie Goes To Hollywood) where the system and event was provided by Classic Album Sundays. The earth loop hum on the system was atrocious. And the CAS people didnt seemed bothered by it at all. Kind of put their whole "super high quality" claims into perspective if they couldnt sort out an earth loop hum

The NYT article was a rehash of an article in the Guardian from January ... https://www.theguardian.com/mu...ndon-audiophile-bars

Well maybe not just a rehash but the Guardian article covers much of the same areas.

I went to a similar hosted by Classic Albums at the Proud Archivist in Shoreditch which combined a presentation of the late Storm Thorgeson's  work and a playing of Wish You Were Here on a full spec LP12, 552/500/large BWs provided for the occasion by Grahams.  It was a great evening.
