Naim iOS App NAS playlists tracks invalid

Posted by: juanito on 03 November 2016

I just changed the motherboard on my Thecus N4800 NAS as the network interface failed.

Now that the NAS is back up, all the tracks in my playlists in the Naim iOS App show a yellow triangle stating "This track is not available as the server is offline. Do you wish to remove:"

I don't understand why this should be the case as the NAS has the same network name and IP address and the Twonky server on the NAS has the same name.

Is there a way to fix this without deleting and recreating the playlists?

Open your playlists as text files and check that the directory paths of the audio files are still correct. If the directory structure has changed you should be able to edit the playlists rather than having to start from scratch.

Can you do that on an iPhone?

I wouldn't know about the iPhone as I don't use one. I assumed that, as you had a NAS, you would have a computer to control/interface with it.

With a PC you can use notepad to open playlists as text files and presumably the Mac would have a similar text editing program. Incidentally, what UPnP server software do you have installed on your NAS drive?

The thread topic title does say "iOS App NAS Playlists"

As mentioned above the streamer sotfware is Twonky.

Playlists created on the Naim app are stored on the iOS device itself, not on the streamer or NAS. I've had problems with corrupted playlists in the past (mine has a red cross by each track rather than your yellow triangle.) I wonder if the app is somehow seeing your NAS as a different device due to the hardware replacement?

In practice I find it better to create and manage playlists on the server rather than the in the Naim app. although I'm not sure how easy it is to do this with Twonky as I've never used it.

I'd guess that a new motherboard has a new MAC address, so even though it has the same IP address, it's seen as a different device.

Yeah - I was coming to the conclusion that as the network interface is integrated on the new motherboard, the MAC address will have changed and the Naim iOS playlists somehow take the MAC address into account.

What a pain...
