UnitiQute display almost dead?

Posted by: Jarl on 12 November 2016

Hi all, anyone having experienced the UnitiQute (first edition) display deteriorating to such an extend that is becomes almost unreadable? It seems like it doesn't have enough power to go beyond the minimum brightness? Would this be a hardware malfunction or am I overlooking some setting?

I fear it is the Oled technology to have a limited life

we find out what the new oled tv owners will tell us in a few years

Jarl, yes, as above, I think your display may be near the end. I have a Uniti1 that I bought new right as the Uniti2 came out. My display was gradually going out(very grey/faded out look to it) this past year after about 4.5 years of use. I sent my Uniti in and they replaced the display board. Just one of those things. Fortunately, mine was still under warranty, so have no idea what actual cost to replace one would be. Hopefully will be good to go for another 4-5 years!

The display on my ND5xs has just gone over the last few weeks , its 4.5 years old as well . It will be going back to Naim very soon .

Have you left the display on for long periods ??   I ask because its my understanding the display has a limited life & are best set to go off on the time limiter,  my NDX is set to 2 minutes.

Mine is set to go off too , I can't remember exactly how long but no more than 2 minutes .

I've just changed mine to 30 secs,  I can only read the big font size from listening position so not much point in longer on periods.

Well, it is my mother's machine. I think it was set to fade after a brief time. I am using ND5XS in my personal system and that one does so as well. I would seam rather odd for a NAIM product to have a display almost die within a few years. It is not completely broken, but it seems like it is set at the lowest possible brightness setting.
