Fab gadgets
Posted by: hungryhalibut on 14 November 2016
Don't you just love to find a really good gadget, one that really works and is really cheap? I recently bought a tiny one cup coffee pot but it was too little to balance on the top of the hob. So I bought a little trivet thing, like I'd seen when on holiday in Italy. It cost less than £1 and is just great. Does anyone else have a fab gadget to share, the cheaper the better?

Yes, a Dualit toaster's for life. (Hand) built like a tank, we've had ours for twenty years or so. I've renewed the elements a couple of times but it's such a simple device this is dead easy & they're very cheap.
Mine was built by Michael but only about a year ago ... hope it lasts as long as Tony's and Mike's
Perhaps we should have a thread on 'How old is your Dualit Toaster?'
(Ours is around 20 years old and proving more robust than me)
Our Dualit is over 30 years old. Wedding present from Williams Sonoma in the US.
I found one on E-Bay it's 3 years older than household electricity.
Our Dualit 20 years old. A great machine.

Google Chromecast Audio . No contest .
Tesco's £1.99 absolutely brilliant, it was previously so messy at mealtimes

Same for me.
The soup seems to be leaking through those elongated holes...
Maybe try chopsticks.....

As in soaking them in a soup and sucking them dry?
Brilliant idea, I thought I had them upside down
Whenever we travel, the room never seems to have enough sockets for all of the gadgets that need charging (go pro; camera; phones; tablets; etc), so I always take one of these. One wall socket charges 5 things at the same.
It's stopped many an argument between the kids about whose i-Pad gets charged first! Costs about £13.
We recently bought one of these night lights from Homebase.
It has a PIR sensor so the light comes on when you approach it, ideal for trips to the bathroom in the middle of the night! There is an option for it to work continuously when dark if you prefer with dual brightness (brighter when you approach it). It also comes on if there is a power failure and the light removes from the cradle and becomes a torch.
It's LED and rechargeable and uses little energy and is under a tenner.
