272 uncontrolled

Hopefully this is just an oversight (from the naim website for the new naim-app):
"Controls Naim Audio streaming products:Mu-so, Mu-so Qb, NDS, NDX, ND5 XS, NAC-N 172 XS and all Uniti all-in-one players"
Or will the 272 get its own elite app?
Must be a typo ...
I've been testing the beta and it can definitely work the 272.
I am a beta tester as well, and it certainly works on the 272
Do we have a new app in development? how is It?
Naim have said publicly that there will be a new app, and we are testing it.
İs it better?
Naim have said that the new app is primarily required to control the new Uniti line (as well as continuing to control existing units), so I'm not sure that the concept of "better" is really applicable.

Still a riddle what the 272 is left out on nails descriptions - one possibility is that directing the new naim app onto the 272 degrades sound quality? (-;

No it couldn't do that. The app controls the streamers and doesn't get to do anything that could affect SQ. And Naim says it controls the NDS which is higher SQ than the 272.
It's simply an omission in the description.

Will the Naim app be usable with late examples of the UnitiQute2 as well?
EDIT: Seems it will! From the website...
Controls Naim Audio streaming products: Mu-so, Mu-so Qb, NDS, NDX, ND5 XS, NAC-N 172 XS and all Uniti all-in-one players
Yes it will.

Why do things need to be made more complex than they need to be? It's just a mistake. I'm running my 272 with the beta app quite happily.
Being on the beta test also, I think calling it a new app is a bit of a stretch. What is new is the control of the upcomming Unity line. Over time we will see the features that only will be available on the new platform, or rather people with the new Unities will test that.

A " meet the new boss, same as the old boss" scenario then?
im glad to see Naim are going to integrate Roon. This really is what apps should look like in 2016.
I would think the current app will get to a workable scenario and then will most likely be quite stable from the upgrade point of view as naim allow people who want more to choose Roon to give them "more".
It makes sense to let companies who are purely software companies work on the software and for Naim to spend resources on hardware

One thing I CAN say . . . Naim take the app seriously, and genuinely care about feedback and fixing things that are broken. (I know that Android app users probably disagree; I'm speaking from the iOS perspective only.) I was one user to really hated the "new app" when it first was released to replace nStream. I far prefer it to nStream now!
I'm in no way trying to infer that Naim don't care about the app, sure the streamers cannot work without them and it is a hugely important part of the Naim offering and they have to get it right.
I just think when they have it right they may leave well enough alone and allow the bells and whistles to Roon.

It would be great if the new app also appeared on the ipad Widget screen - a quick way to see the track or radio name!
Is this the new Windows app that we have heard so much about_

I don't think anyone Is talking about a new Windows app. But Naim have said that there will be new IOS and Android apps to control the new Uniti range.
