Goodmorning,

Is it already know what external hard disks will work with the new line?

No Naim haven't released a list but I think I read somewhere that it's not fussy.

Got mail from Naim saying could be hdd or ssd for at least 20.00 tracks. But what will be better hdd or ssd?

So it all depends how many tracks/albums you want to rip. You can get about 1000 albums per TB (a great generalisation I know, but it will be that plus or minus). SSDs are available easily up to 1TB but are expensive. Of course an SSD is silent whereas an HDD does make some noise, so a factor will be how far away you intend siting this. If the Core is in another room, then noise probably isn't a factor. I doubt there will be any difference SQ wise. You can also use the Core without a SSD or HDD and rely on a separate NAS for storing.

I have ordered a 2TB HDD which is costing me about £70.

I would welcome that actually Chris. In paying £70 for the HDD, I was aware that it wasn't a lot of money to put to one side if someone says something convincing about SSD, but I wouldn't want to buy a big SSD and have put that aside!

I am anticipating all sorts of interesting threads once the new unitis get out to forum members....

David i agree with you that hdd is a good solutions. Storage on hdd is much cheaper. But will there be a difference in speed in handling data?

Or will the information on a SSD makes that it will sound better? Please Naim enlighten us?

Gr,

Chris
