What's on your Christmas wish list this year?
Posted by: Loki on 23 November 2016
With Black Friday nearly upon us, cyber Monday around the corner and the advent of, well, Advent, I hope I'm not too early in asking what you are hoping/planning to get to augment your system this Yuletide? Dreams, hopes and more realistic Naim additives are all viable.
In reality, I have obviously been a very bad boy and so there will be nothing under my tree this year or for many years to come.
But in my "dream" Christmas wish list I have only three categories of wants needs:
1) Musical Instruments: Hamburg Steinway Model C (or B) | Bechstein C234 (or B212) | Blüthner Model 2 (or 4) | Bösendorfer Model 225 and as many others as my house mansion could hold plus sets of rare stringed instruments from Stradivarius, Amati, Guarneri etc. and recorders etc.
2) Cars: A stable full of Porsche 911's both old style and new
3) Replay: NAP 500 DR | CD 555 | DR for all my existing equipment | Upgraded cables etc. | Appropriate speakers etc.
Christmas Day is usually spent eating too much and not drinking enough. Be great to reverse this situation and then play some quality music on the Hifi.

All I want is a 2017 that sucks a bit less than did 2016. Like many others, lost too many people I loved and admired, and saw a Presidential election go to a person I do not respect.
I got older, work got harder, but am hopeful the year will end well. For example, tomorrow begins a four day holiday weekend, and Mrs. Hook and I will be celebrating 35 years of marriage.
Also, looks like the next two Music Matters 33RPM Blue Note reissues will be here in the next couple of weeks, so that's me sorted for Christmas!

35 years can be regarded as a big present, most of us don't get that far....

Congratulations on the 35 years, and like myself 34 years ......we have had no need for a wife upgrade ![]()

Ouch! A bit personal, when you consider 95% of this forum's members can probably claim membership of that select band of brothers! I was thinking more of traditional standards, such as high work ethic, don't buy what you can't afford (I.e. save for it), relationships for life etc. I know many of today's 'millenials' see us as parasitic spenders of their inheritances and taxes they don't pay, but I know which gang I'd rather belong to. Roll on 2017 and the next upgrade!
Timmo 1341, theirs nothing like a good rant....just remember your next upgrade might be your hip, or knee....or.....? ![]()

Not personal. I think joe was referring to baby boomers being the fill in after WWII decimated a large proportion of the population..

Fair point! Still, it gave me an excuse (as if I needed one) to have a little pop at the whinging millenials!
A nice big fat juicy bonus paid for by all the poor tax payers....
I've got the Atom on my list as well.

Two years ago Hilary's sister died at 60 from cancer, last year my dad died, and this year I nearly died and was saved by an off duty firefighter giving me CPR at the roadside. All I want is a new cardigan for Christmas and no more surprises!
No Naim but I did just buy some Audeze headphones.

Went with Sine and Cipher cable. I figured a closed back, portable, easy to drive can would be better for my use. I had intended to get LCD-2 with Chord Mojo but thought better of it.

It's been a bit like that here: wife had a TIA, mother-in-law killed in a RTA, then Brexit and Trump.

Perhaps Brexit And Trump should become BAT.

I like your style, even under the circumstances.
