Please be on the look out

hi all.
Jusy gotten home to find we've been burgled. My beloved system has gone. They've taken my 282, 250.2, NDX, Hicap 2, Gyro SE, RB300, 2m black, iMac new Sony TV (bought Tuesday!) and my partners jewlery. Taken from the Selly Oak / Bournville area between 6 and 8pm tonight. Please can I ask you to keep your eyes open for this kit being offered for silly prices.
Many thanks.
To throw in another torch of hope: are there stories known where the Naim stuff was found back? Since this world is quite small and - Indicated by mr Dane - there is a register of stolen gear, there must be some stolen / found stories around.
My sympathies CheekyMonkey. I do hope the authorities apprehend the people responsible and you are able to get your equipment back.
Along with all the others, you have my sympathies; can't imagine what it must be like to come home to this.
As Adam said, you may feel violated but possessions can be replaced and you are both safe.
This happened to some friends of ours and it was the loss of personal things, such as rings, and the fact that someone has violiated your personal space, that was most upsetting. So long as the insurance is adequate, the 'stuff' can be replaced with new 'stuff' but it's the personal things and the bad feelings that take time to heal.
I wish you and your family well, Cheekymonkey.
horrible news -- i hope there is some light at the end of the tunnel
BARSTARDS may they root in hell for eternity.
why reflect when you can get even.
That really sucks. Don't forget to post those serial numbers that Richard mentioned ASAP. The earlier the better. We will all keep an eye for some dodgy deals. Best of luck sorting it all out.
Really sorry to hear that you were the victim of such a crime. I hope those responsible are caught. Thanks for posting by the way. I am not sure I have written down all my serial numbers and you have reminded me to do that this weekend....I hope you are not without your music for long.....Scott.
I note that hifi shack and eBay have been mention, so yes You SHOULD notify another prominent forum, though it can't be mentioned here for some unknown reason ???
hi all. Serial numbers are as follows.
NAC 282 - 224202
NAP 250.2 - 239570
Hicap - 265306
NDX - 359420
Had my car nicked 4 times in my life and been burgled twice - once while we were asleep upstairs. As others have said the HiFi is just 'stuff' and can be replaced - it is your peace of mind that takes a while to recover. I have always made sure we install. and use, a burglar alarm with lots of repeater sirens in the house as most of these scum don't want to be seen and the potential for noise puts them off.
I have learnt to cope by knowing I've done what I can to make it difficult for them, but I still make sure high value items in the house are made as difficult to remove as possible without it affecting my enjoyment of them.
I hope you recover the items of sentimental value and that you have insurance that allows you to get new for old on the HiFi. As others have said perhaps the one silver lining is that you will at least be able to put your accumulated experience to the not so horrible task of auditioning a brand new system armed with the knowledge of what you'd have liked to have changed with the benefit of hindsight.
First things first though - make sure you get good locks, alarms and anything else you think you need to allow you and your family to feel secure in your home again. This is the key priority right now. I'd also install visible CCTV cameras, even if not functional, to deter future scumbags.
Best of luck with it all and I hope they catch the scum who did this. The other thing to take away is that it does sound opportunist and not personal so do not become too paranoid.
Sickening. My commiserations and best wishes for a good outcome on the insurance. The psychological pain will ease. Don't let them get inside your head.
Unlikely I will hear anything but I will keep them peeled.
Good luck with it.
Very, very sorry to hear this.
Some good advice above and hope they catch these idiots. Unfortunately the damage is done to the stereo gear but I hope some of the other items are retrieved intact.

My sympathies. Years ago, upon returning unexpectedly to our apartment in Chicago I surprised a burglar who was about to leave with our meticulously dismantled sound system (among other things) piled in front of the entrance door. He must have had a partner waiting outside with a van. It took him no time to hit me on the head with a blunt object before escaping. The sound system (Quad amplification and large Kef speakers) was saves at the cost of eight stitches to my forehead. Thankfully, the guy chose not to use the very sharp knife he was carrying which he dropped on the floor on his way out.
Many commiserations. The people who commit this sort of crime are pure scum, hopefully they'll be nicked. Being a suspicious sort, the fact you just bought a new, no doubt expensive, TV might have something to do with this; no doubt the police will be thinking the same.
Tony makes a good point. Burglary is something we all fear, I'm sure. I hope there was nothing taken of sentimental value and hope too that the insurance pays up without too much delay.
Very sorry to read this, lets hope you end up with an even better set up than before, you deserve at least that and I agree with Robert 'the ba$7ards'!
Couldn't agree more with your comment, Tony. It's many years since I was at the sharp end on CID, but invariably those responsible for home delivery and installation of audio visual equipment were found to have had some input into ensuing burglaries. Difficulty is proving it, particularly when they've simply sold on the information. Let's just hope for CCTV or DNA evidence. Without those I'm afraid today's police won't investigate or prosecute anyone. In any event, this hi-fi will be long gone by now, and I'm certain the OP wouldnt want it back even if recovered. Just hope he's well insured, and that he and his partner are able to come to terms with the violation. Domestic burglary is a despicable crime we have never punished harshly enough.
I'm really gutted. I took the liberty of posting the kit's serial numbers in the Naim Audio Facebook group.
The best of luck to you and greetings from Lisbon.
Pedro
(first time I comment here, btw: I'm a new Naim customer)

I think we ought to bring back the Birch or in the case of theft of Naim equipment a severe thrashing with NAC A5 speaker cable.
Really sorry to read about the theft of your system , its the stuff of nightmares and something we all dread . I really hope you are reimbursed correctly and can put this behind you . Like others have mentioned , my first thought was the delivery of your TV.... I would put some saved searches in the usual auction sites as you never know , these folk may not be the brightest . Its a sad reminder that we have to share the planet with "people" who think its fine to break into someones home and take their hard earned possessions . I don't feel justice is anywhere near hard enough , far too many "cautions" being handed out etc .. Time to get tough on crime !
Peter.
I work in the criminal justice system. All crime is a violation of people's human rights to be able to live in a secure and just society. However, because of various government policy's over the recent past of cuts to the public sector, police, probation, youth justice, allied to cuts in the CPS and the general privatisation of the criminal justice system as a whole. It is unlikely that any one will be brought to justice for this dispicable crime.
I wish the OP and his family well and hope they can replace the items stolen and they quickly recover from the trauma and violation of their home.
Graham.
Really upsetting to read this. As others have said the stuff of nightmares, and makes us all think. My wife has just asked what I would do if I found my kit had gone - my answer was cry, and that's without considering the invasion of privacy you must feel. Hope the scum that took it electrocute themselves plugging it in, or damaged their backs while lifting it.
We know from neighbours cctv that it was a guy and a girl in a car that did it, she even took a jar of face cream off the bed side table. Cctv not good enough to pick out faces or reg no unfortunately, but the car was a dark blue or black Ford Focus.
Bastards. Well, at least with key parts and leads missing, it wont be much use. Not that that helps you. You have lost your pride and joy, assembled over many years. The tea leaf may get a few £100 of someone, who will them try to sell it on.
Doubt very much that the Police will do anything - just another Crime Number, another stat.
As someone already said, check your insurance & start thinking about a new system.
