Uniti Display

Xmas starting for us today with a party for my wife's Brazilian friends. Turned on the uniti in the family room to stream from the HDX. Seems to be working fine, (the Linn komponants plugged into it sound desperate!), with the only issue being the brightness on the display is almost zero - can only be read if put eye almost against it. Not too much of an issue today as will use iPad, but anyone any ideas? Tried pressing the disp button on the remote and gets no better

I suspect it needs a new display.

That's what I suspected. Find that surprising after only c. 5 years, especially when switched off waiting for me to sell it for a fair chunk of the last 18 months, and as it was back at Naim being converted to 240v last year, and I thought was checked over then. The display on my Sony clock radio is still going strong after 20 odd years.

It seems the displays on the streaming products have a lifetime of 4.5 to 5 years . I've read of quite a few displays fading recently and my ND5XS went back to Naim on tuesday for a new display . Luckily I had 3 months warranty remaining .

A bit rubbish that they seem to go like that. Potentially unforeseeable, so can't necessarily blame anyone, but pretty basic screens in other (often much cheaper) equipment frequently last for donkeys'.

I bought my 172 second hand, so I spose I'll just have to cross my fingers.
