A few DR upgrade questions...

I've decided to bite the bullet and upgrade my NAP300 to DR spec.  A few questions:

- Anyone got a feel for the current factory turn-around time?

- Do I need to send off both the power amp and the 300 PSU?

- Do the output transistors get replaced?

- Current cost is £1495.  Anyone know if this is due to go up on January 1st?

Ideally I'd like to have my system available over Christmas but this might be a tad optimistic.  If the price isn't going up on January 1st I'll wait until January before upgrading.

I've been told that mine will be done some time in January - probably. They are going for a service as well so both boxes go in. 

So far as I am aware the prices have not gone up but it makes sense to get them registered with Naim in the waiting list asap anyway 

Can't help with the rest - sorry.

Since the 300DR has DR and the new 009 transistors I presume Naim will need box boxes.

I am pretty sure the PS box will be needed only if you do a service at the same time.  The DR regulation is in the head unit, not the PS box.  But, I am not a 300 owner, so maybe someone will correct me.  Naim or your dealer will advise you on timing and price.

Yep. No DR bits in the PS box.

bear in mind that Christmas is coming up fast and, with Naim's Christmas break, things can get very busy in the service dept.  I'd check with Naim first.

The head unit box is the only thing that is changes in DR update, so that is the only box needed to be sent. If you want the supply serviced as well that means send both boxes - there is usually a discount getting both done together, but only consider to bother to do this if your 300PS is more than 8 years old and definitely if more than 10 years old.

The head unit case box is the only thing that does not changed in DR update - you get new circuit board, transistors and even input sockets is my understanding. For the 500DR I know it is all changed except for the box, so probably the same for the 300DR.

It is a very big upgrade for the 300.
