Sorry to hear that Paul is leaving Naim. After years working alongside Julian Vereker, he took over as the boss after JV's untimely death.
He looked after Naim till recently, handing over the reins to Trevor Wilson last year, I think, moving to the role of Chairman.
Noone should underestimate the difficulty of the task presented to him in 2000. Many things changed in that decade and this one -- the arrival of the big Naim amps (500, 300, 552, 555) at a significantly higher price point than before, the arrival of network streaming with the NaimNet, HDX and UQ. The Uniti range. The Ovator speakers. The "new era" electronics that lead to Superline, Statement, and thus DR. The Naim for Bentley systems. No-one can claim he rested on his laurals
He and I have had some furious arguments over the years. And yet he is always welcome to visit for a pint and dinner.
I will miss him, as I'm sure will many.
But best wishes for a long and happy retirement.
jon
I'm surpriced he lasted that long after investors went in
Did he fall or was he pushed?
Have a well deserved retirement, Paul. I'm sure the company would not be where it is today without all your enthusiasm and passion.
Good luck Paul with the future.
Regards,
Lindsay
As a Supdrline user I'm curious what "new era" electronic means, can you tell more about this topic, Jon?
This is a sad day indeed. With the recent departure of Doug and now Paul, it looks to me like the end of an era.
IMHO since the departure of Julian, Paul has done a wonderful job steering Naim through changing and challenging times. It's been a long road since Myself & Mrs D first visited Julian in Salt Lane and decided that Naim was streets ahead of others in domestic hifi. Funny enough, I was in Salisbury last Thursday and deliberately walked along Salt Lane to see the old building. Now a Fish & Chip shop.....but claiming to be the best in Wiltshire IIRC !!!
I recall meeting Paul and Doug when Naim first moved into Southampton Road. I bought my Bariks from them at that time. The company has expanded significantly since then, but still retained that individual focus on customers, like the BBQ a few years back.
Paul, I wish you well in your retirement, or future ventures wherever they might be. Good luck and best wishes.
Cheers, Don
Not surprising to see a changing of the guard after private equity steps in. They usually have their own ideas and are guided by short term objectives. However, he should be proud of what they have accomplished and these new products also look very strong. Hopefully the company does not loose the plot as so often is the case when private equity and vulture capital take ownership.
Thank you for the kind words-it's been a wonderful journey. For the record I decided on the timing and was fully supported by the Group and all at Naim. I have been privileged to work with so many wonderful people at Naim and all over the world, believe it or not I felt that setting up the forum was one of the many highlights of my time at Naim.In the early days as I travelled I met so many Naim owners who wished to be part of a Naim community- the Internet made it happen.
Jon- mutual respect as you know, nothing wrong with Passion with a capital P, thanks for always being there! Looking forward to the beer
the rest of you I can now troll here and leak the hidden secrets!
Paul is a first rate chief executive who did much to make Naim what it is today. Best wishes to him on a well deserved retirement. He will be missed.
Jon,
Thank you for letting us all know.
Paul,
We all owe you a debt of gratitude for the way in which you took over the reins in 2000, then continued to develop, grow & modernise the company in the face of many, many challenges. You hand over a company that is in rude health and absolutely at the leading edge of domestic music reproduction. You will have made many decisions along the way, some of which others may challenge (easy to do when not in the hot seat!), but your legacy is a great one.
Best wishes to you for a long & happy retirement. FT
Best wishes to you Paul. And I'm looking forward to some stories ahah!

Passion is the only thing that matters and its been a delight to work with you on and off over the last 28 years or so. (Although i fear the dev team are pushing huge pins into multiple effigies of me at the moment :-) )
And my Old Skool 135s and Dibbles have never sounded better. Always beer, dinner and a spare bedroom whenever you are in the area.

/me sat at my desk grinning like a loon now ...
As has been said, it's the passion and enthusiasm of everyone at Naim that has made being here a pleasure for the last (nearly) ten years.
You *CANNOT* procedurise passion or enforce enthusiasm and it might not have been easy at times but it has been an absolute honour and a privilege to be here under your direction Paul and I look forward to what happens here in the future. You're a top bloke! ![]()
Phil
superb flexi hours.
Naim has been an important part of my life since 2005 and for your part in that Paul I'm very grateful.
Enjoy the next chapter with good friends and in good health.

Paul, Thanks for all you've done for Naim. Enjoy the next chapter of your life.
Thanks for everything Paul!
Enjoy a well earned retirement, but if you do have a prototype Ovator S200 standmount kicking around at the factory do PM me before you go ![]()
Sincerely,
Nathan
