Sorry to hear that Paul is leaving Naim. After years working alongside Julian Vereker, he took over as the boss after JV's untimely death.
He looked after Naim till recently, handing over the reins to Trevor Wilson last year, I think, moving to the role of Chairman.
Noone should underestimate the difficulty of the task presented to him in 2000. Many things changed in that decade and this one -- the arrival of the big Naim amps (500, 300, 552, 555) at a significantly higher price point than before, the arrival of network streaming with the NaimNet, HDX and UQ. The Uniti range. The Ovator speakers. The "new era" electronics that lead to Superline, Statement, and thus DR. The Naim for Bentley systems. No-one can claim he rested on his laurals
He and I have had some furious arguments over the years. And yet he is always welcome to visit for a pint and dinner.
I will miss him, as I'm sure will many.
But best wishes for a long and happy retirement.

Paul,
I'm the guy who started attending this forum with polemics and making himself conspicuous some ten years ago... We briefly met at a TopAudio in Milano once, I introduced myself and that was all. I've continued being polemic and I have continued being in love with Naim – embarrassing, but there's no other way for me to express it.
I have quitted and I have returned, I have bought and sold, and I have often wondered (very often) how all this – the forum, the community – looked from there, in the Naim canteen I only had a glance of while visiting Naim years ago; what you all at Naim, you in your position, did with the thousands of members and the tons of posts and the craziness of us all. Did you smile at it? Were you proud of it? Because this community is much larger than the people who actually work at Naim, or even, perhaps the people that work for Naim. We are a small army, and you were somehow at the head of it.. A happy army of Passionated Nuts.
So, enjoy a splendid time (not that you need my wishes – I still remember an answer from you to a post of mine, you were 'writing on the iPhone while going to a jazz concert in a club in London' – I have envied this for months, when I happened to think of it) and please start posting with a fake identity and keep us entertained with stories and secrets.
Merry Christmas
Max

I have just realised that it WAS that many years ago, when attending the first Bristol hi-fi show, that I would have come across you; in the days when you and Doug were the face of Naim at hi-fi shows.
That show converted me to Naim. Thankyou.
Enjoy your retirement

All the best from me too. Not just for the equipment and the very nature of the company, but also the Forum in all it's many forms (stand wars and all). My only complaint is that every time I clawed my way up to the top of the tree you added another level (in quantum leaps!).
Many thanks, Nick

Paul,
Best of luck for the future. I got to meet you a few times, most recently at the UHES Bentley day and again when you personally showed myself and wife around your factory in February of this year.
Is this a retirement? If it is, when can we expect the autobiography which will spill all the interesting gossip including details on Phil's trip to Amsterdam?

found an really excellent interview with Paul published in 2011 (so should be viewed in that time context)
I know URLs are frowned upon, but I ask forgiveness for this one -- it has heaps of interesting history in it, and its very pertinent to the current news

As I came down from my loft music room last night after another wonderful evening of music, I thought how lucky we are to have had JV, Paul and the inspirational team who have given us so much lasting musical pleasure over the years. Naim kit was demonstrated to me 25 years ago and I was sold on it from the word go. For me, there is nothing to touch it and retirement meant I could spend more time with it. And Paul, it was great to shake your hand and thank you when I came across you at demonstrations.

All the very best to you Paul, now and in the future. I too first came across you fronting the Naim stand on one of my regular pilgrimages to Bristol many moons ago. I have never been tempted to move away only move upwards! Thank you for making it possible.

Thank you Paul! I had a fantastic experience listening to your DBL system in your home years ago. Its was and still represents state of the art regarding audio reproduction to me. Your hospitality was always first class
Doug was ok also
All the best and have fun!

Well done Paul and many congratulations on your retirement. As a long established customer of naim, I only hope the short term requirements of the VC's do not compromise the integrity and long-standing quest for naim excellence. I hope the financiers are supporters for the right reasons....
