US backup errors

Posted by: Richard Morris on 13 December 2016

I've just done a complete backup (4,300 cds) to a Synology. I noticed in n-Serve/Maintenance/Backup Scheduler/Backup Logs the there were 27,000 errors - although no errors were shown during backup in Backup Monitor.

However when I try to view the Log file n-Serve fails to respond (spinning beachball) and has to be restarted via Activity Monitor.

Is this typical?

I wouldn't say it was typical, but that's a lot of data to back up in one go. As long as you can see that the files are there on the NAS, I doubt there's anything to worry about.

I suspect the reason you can't see the log is also due to the large size of the backup. Once the regular, daily differential backups have started, my guess is that they will be error free, and you will be able to view the log.

thats 6 errors per disc -- one per track maybe?

I can see the files on the NAS.

The differential logs do load with error total (typically 0).

I'm puzzled why the error count didn't tick up as the backup proceeded and why the progress bar didn't work.
