Add a 200DR or 250DR to my SN2?

I'm getting the bug to experiment, and I'm wondering what I might expect if I add a 200DR or 250DR to my SN2, then using the SN2 as a pre-amp.  These are available on the used market now, and my plan would be to be able to 'try' this and then re-sell at minimal total cost to me if it didn't work out.  Since not using my CD5XS, I have an empty shelf on my Fraim that could be used.

I prefer the presentation of the SN2 to the 200. So if it was between the two then definitely the 250 would be my choice.

Having compared an SN2 with a 200/202, the latter is better to my ears . . . but only just, and 'different' may be the word, rather than 'better'. Money no object I'd get the separates, but if you already have the SN2 I'm not sure a 200 will offer enough upgrade to be worth it. 250DR seems like more of a step up, but I haven't heard that.

Having also just did the home demo, I had the opposite opinion, the SN2 sounding better, or should I say I preferred it to the separates, the SN2 sounding more powerful. It depends on what speakers you're using if you prefer ones presentation I would guess.

A 250.2 DR'ed after the fact for $4k.  I'm thinking.  I can always sell it off and recover most of that.

Can a SN2 be used a power amp only? If so, try NAC282 and your HC with it, Bart.

Thanks but not going in that direction, Chris (per some of my comments earlier in the thread).
