CDX2 help please

Took delivery of new ( to me ) CDX2 last month.

Has played beautifully but on Boxing Day it swallowed the puck ( which has never fitted as tightly as on my previous CD5X.

I don't want to take the case off myself and it seems crazy to send it back to Naim for this.

Can I safely take it to my local dealer ( who did not supply it but have their own engineeer ) to retreive ?

Any idea why this hasd happenened and/or is it a common fault ?

If the puck doesn't go on the spindle straight then sometimes it can just catch the opening of the drawer as you close it and if you're really unlucky the puck can fall inside the player.  It shouldn't do any harm in there if you don't move the player about but it's not to difficult to remove .  You just need to carefully remove the cover (wear an anti-ESD strap) and slide it off to retrieve.  If you're worried then it should be an easy 5 minute job for your dealer.

This makes me wonder if it came with the correct puck, as they should stick on like a limpet. If you do take it to dealer, make sure you put the transport bolt in first.

HH is right.  I've had 2 Naim CDPs and the puck holds firm.

A friend has a Uniti and he and his wife have started a veritable clamp farm within their unit.  I remember when I bought a CD3 secondhand - There was something causing resistance when I tried to close the door, so I opened it up to take a look and out came six old clamps.  It happens...

Which version of the CDX2 is it. Pucks vary between models. It may be a miss match of the pucks. I've had both versions of CDX2 and the pucks were a reasonably good fit, the puck 5 particularly so..

CDX2> puck 3 (magnet + 3 rubber grommets)

CDX2.2> puck 5 (magnetic ring)

Graham,

just a small correction; the earlier CDX2s used the VAM1250 mech and Clamp 4.

It was the CDX that used the VAM1205 mech and Clamp 3.

I can't say what type of clamp it is becuse it is stuck in the bloody..........you get the picture !

I think it may have been the wrong puck when supplied because the fit was never as good as my old machine.

Transport bolt already secured in readiness for the short journey .

Thanks to everyone.
