New year Hi Fi resolutions

New year resolutions tend to be with reference to curbing ones excesss'...
But I have decided, to NOT Curb my upgrade spending habits in the new year.
So my new year resolution is to purchase two new racks and possibly upgrade my speaker cables....
So what might be your new year hifi resolutions?
Once the S20s are really bedded in will look at some of the cabling to fine tune the system but all is great so no hurry.
Oh in the interim more Malbec.
Happy new year chaps.

Malbec, is that the inky black grape I wonder? If so sounds like a great new year resolution, just might do the same myself ![]()
And yes.....Happy new year..
Racks for me too, and if funds allow, speaker cable upgrade. Definitely adding more CDs to the collection too.
Happy New Year ladies and gents!
Last year I took an online college course in Jazz appreciation. This led me to acquire a lot of music from many of the great jazz musicians of the 50's 60's and 70's. In 2017 I resolve to learn more about more contemporary artists, especially some of the many talents and bands from Europe. I may also endeavor to learn more about "The Blues."
I removed my subwoofers from the system last summer, so I am still tinkering with getting the best bass from my speakers, and I will perhaps try to tweak the design to build another pair. It is simple to get "more bass," but another thing all together to retain the harmony and rhythm in well preformed/recorded music.
Happy New Year!
Charlie
Happy New Year from Germany to!
Higher resolution for me![]()
Ok - it's still in a planning phase, but... possibly new speakers for the living room. And if winds blow from favourite directions a new pre-power to replace my SN2...
Music wise - enter a recording studio sometime in the spring to record a new album. Start gigging in some local clubs before that.
Same as Lindsey, let new speakers bed in and finetune with cables. In meantime having fun enjoying the new housesound. Happy new year all, Lars
Rack + potential speaker upgrade
The CDX2 has emigrated and a new Core is due imminently, I've yet to decide how to play its contents once I get ripping. I'm inclined to wait for whatever replaces the NDS in the long term so an interim solution is needed. I'll start my auditions at the bottom with a Rega DACr but maybe a hugo will tempt me to spend more. I'll need to sort out a signal earth for the system in either case unless a used Naim DAC or NDX comes m way.
NAC 282!!!
Just one level of fraim then I am Done! No naim no headphones, maybe a tube amp for living room or a atom, core might be interesting, what about chancing stock interconnects between turntable/stage line! It never Endssssss! Happy new year All!

My new year philosophy is ' it doesn't have to '..... Happy days....
I may be moving house with a dedicated music room above the garage. If it all happens could mean some changes. Would love a pair of Nap 135s to hook onto my nac52/Supercap and possibly speakers may need to change. No rush though plus it may not happen.

I've just moved house a few months ago, and now having a dedicated music room ..... So i really hope it works out for you....fingers crossed
I have a simple one. Buy less music and instead listen more intense. No real upgrades planned. While a 500 DR upgrade would be nice if I would get funds available.

Thanks Wenger even more riding on it as if it happens I'm going to retire also.

Wenger, have you got the wife to sign off on the spending spree you are planning, or is this a secret plan?![]()
It's a 52 service for me with Pots 8 upgrade if not too prohibitive. Plus I may check out a used Supercap for the Prefix or an external PS for the NDX

SWMBO is always happy with my spending as long as a couple of handbags and shoes can also be upgraded
Ps Forgot the ![]()
I'll be doing nothing to the stereo this year as it's now optimised with mains, wires, network and its stand, and anyway my pay stops at the end of January so I couldn't change anything even if I wanted to. So it's lucky I don't. But being on sick leave for the foreseeable future means there is a lot more time to listen to music. So I'm looking on the bright side.

I'm not a religious man, but during our move, I did look up to the heavens a few times, what with solicitors extortionate fees , agents fees, stamp duty, ect ect , and most importantly a new music room if it all goes through.... My thoughts are with you...ps all the best on your retirement aswell ...
more listening and enjoying of the music now that I have a stunning sound. even audio from the Googlebox is engaging
Started 2016: SU into pair of Living voice OBXR speakers which I've had for 15 years. added 250-2, replaced SU with N272. added 555PS , TQ Ultra black replaced 250-2 with 250DR.
ended 2016 with a more minimalist 272/555 into pair of ATC SCM40A
Jan 2017 will see the new 4k TV installed on the chimney breast which will give even space for speakers to inhabit either side.
Biggest upgrade will be proper stand to put the blacks boxes on ..... leaning towards Quadraspire SVT with bronze upgrade or may even stretch to even ref-x which SHMBO likes (she is not keen on the Fraim look)
beyond mmm probably depends on Naim to providing upgrade path above N272/555
I don't have any New Year Resolutions – I can't even promise myself that I'll walk with two feet. But I have a few New Year Hopes:
- To sort my speakers Odyssey: the Sats are lovely but small and congested, the S-600s are too big and invasive. To find balance, also regarding room placement and acoustics.
- To regain perspective on the whole Home Audio thing – it's just recordings, it's just appliances. People with stereos, 60 years ago, played records and dreamed about concerts. We go to concerts and dream about our stereo.
- To play the guitar more, much more. Much, much more.
Here's to all Forum members, with my best wishes for a wise, sensible, joyous 2017.
