ATC SCM40 + NAP250 DR
Posted by: pz on 01 January 2017
Hi Mates,
Does anybody use SCM40 + NAP250 combination here ? Is this amplifier able to fully drive these speakers ? (Specified sensitivity is 'only' 85 Db.)
My room is about 6 x 4 m and listening position is about 1.8 meters from the speakers.
Thx.
The black grills are hardly noticeable as we have them in one of the 2 new finish Satin Black, but on the wood finish I can that they would polarize WAF
I did worry they would be a finger print magnet, but so are those fears are unfounded.
So far just using the standard supplied power leads.

100% correct. 'We' are (were) contemplating 252 with 19A or 40A's The grill was thumbs down, shame as I am 50/50 on that. But surprisingly it was also noted it introduced another wood. I agree in that respect, Cherry looks very different to our Ash & Elm. ............. still looking

+1 on what Simon said.
I recommend that you also audition the SCM19 and contrast it against the SCM40 over the range of volume levels that you prefer. They are both mighty fine speakers although we chose the SCM19. I have no experience of the active versions of either model but with a brand new 250 DR considered it too late to find out - at least just yet!
Oh and regarding the front grills, we leave them on all the time and our granddaughter offered the unsolicited comment that they look very modern and trendy on their smart stands. Ours are cherry wood finish. Both she and her brother, who have younger ears and are are experienced enough in these matters to have opinions that I respect, approve of both the looks and the sonic performance ![]()
My ATC SCM11s look very good in cherry. I do acknowledge the grilles are an acquired taste, much like smooth peanut butter or heroin.
