Mac Mail problems

Yesterday, I changed the email password for BTinternet on my iMac.  No problems encountered - when to Yahoo! Mail site, changed it there and Mail continues to work with the new pw.

SWMBO's Macbook was a completely different story.  Did it exactly the same way via the Yahoo! Mail site, but then Mac Mail refused to accept the new password!   After an hour of frustration this morning I have eventually got it up and running again, but what a faff.  Even went on the BT help chatline.

I had to sign her out of iCloud, delete and then add back in BTinternet in Mac Mail, then restart iCloud.   Only problem is that now her login password to her MacBook has now changed.  Looks like a major headache to change it back, so I've just told her what the new password is and hope she doesn't make too much fuss.

Why do things have to be difficult?  Wish I could find a way of making passwords visible while typing them in.  I hate the row of 'bullet's which is what you usually see, and I will admit to occasional typing errors.  SWMBO is a one finger typist, so even worse for her.

If you use "keychain" on your Mac, I believe all passwords are visible in Keychain. //applications/Utilities scroll though to the entry you wish to view, then double click and select "view password".

occasionally my Mac asks for me to enter the Yahoo email password and I seem to remember having an issue entering it once.

changing the log in password is pretty easy too.

like you, I deleted the email account on the Mac, then re-entered all of the details and it worked. Damn computers!

Thanks, but I already knew that.  I keep all our passwords in the app 'Keeper'.  That way I only have to remember ONE password, although I do know most of them anyway.

What I don't really understand is why changing the iCloud password changed the MacBook login as well.

I've turned off iCloud on SWMBO's Macbook.  She doesn't use it, and hopefully it won't cause any more problems.
