Weather Forecasters

Weather Forecasters

They do a brilliant job these days.

I rely very much on the general BBC forecasts after the Ten O’Clock News to anticipate what I might be able to do tomorrow.

However, I do sometimes get distracted……..

……….my favourite forecaster these days is Louise Lear………

It’s got nothing to do with the accuracy of her forecasts….

I thought Laura Greene always gave good weather forecasts - even when it was howling a gale outside.

I preferred John Ketley... now he was a weatherman... and so was Michael Fish!

Now remind me, who sang that? John Kettley is a weatherman, a weatherman, a weatherman.... Am I showing my age?

It was released in 1988 , apparently Mr Kettley hated it as I recall...

BBC forecast is a bit unfair. I use Wunderground (Weather Underground), I have it on my cellphone (took the apk from blog on Android, but I'm not sure that's available for IOS). And I can want the forecast online, from their webpage.

Better to not trust them in a 10-days long prediction, bit I you want to know the weather for tomorrow, that's fine.

BBC is about to severe links with the Met Office;  MeteoGroup will take over from them sometime this spring.  They promise forecasting with new graphics for the weather services on all BBC TV, radio, web & mobile platforms.  BBC will continue to use Met Office severe weather warnings

But what of our favourite presenters ??  Most of the national presenters are employed by the Met Office whereas the regional (local) presenters are BBC people.     It seems with no official announcement as yet there is no news on the future of individuals.  The BBC has said they have taken steps so the majority of 'favourite' presenters will continue to front BBC Weather.

Meanwhile my mornings are brighter with local presenter Holly Green & the one & only national treasure Carol Kirkwood.
