{{Measurements of Naim Glass, this is the spec I was given courtesy of Steve J:

The measurements are 343mm x 454mm 10mm bronzed toughened safety glass with 45% chamfered edges. BS  6206 Class A.}}

Any added information would be appreciated. Cdx2 is in the possession of Audio Plus, VAM 1202 Replacement, I suspect.

Headed to local Glass company to get some prices, perfect timing to add some Customized Glass & Naim Cups/Balls, to the inferior Naim Lite!

Thanks In Advance.

Yes, they do look identical from the top view.

Never considered, looking underneath, until this very moment.

Mine is raised off the surface, by a circular rim.

No pictures available now. I shoot with a 35mm and transfer to disc, then photobucket.

But can you post some shots of your glass?

Please!!!!

Just checked your profile, nice system!

I am having a hard time figuring out how to attach photos,somehow got lucky with the other one...even this reply is somehow inside the quote?

Yeah, I had a problem with pictures early on also.

I kept confusing edit/insert link with edit/insert image.

Other than that, I just copied from (direct) photobucket, and paste under source in edit/insert image!

Hope that helps!

BTW, you wouldn't  happen to know the Naim of that company in Windsor!

I recently upgraded my Fraimlite by adding 5 glass shelves that I bought locally in Canada to the same specs you did,I paid 340 dollars for 5,which is 257 American dollars with today's exchange rate.I made my own cups,and bought the ball bearings locally too for fourteen dollars for twenty balls.The end result is a substantial savings,if I were to buy "full Fraim"and I think they look AND sound excellent.I had a thread on it a few months back called "Fraimlite upgrade".

Nice Pictures, No quarter!

Thanks for the information, I will check those guys out first thing in the morning. I don't live to far from you. About an half hour from Downtown Windsor.

Well, it looks good, just curious, did you notice a difference in SQ??????

I would say call them for sure then,like I said,I paid 370 Canadian for 5 shelves,which is about 268 American for 5,even if you have to take a drive to pick them up,probably cheaper than shipping...but I would look into that first because you might have to pay duty.They should remember my order,it was only a few months ago that I got them.Just say a guy named Tony ordered them not long ago.Still hoping you can post a picture of the underside of your cups,I may be able to add that recess to mine if it helps.As far as sound goes,everything really seemed to snap into focus really well,I am actually blown away with how good it all sounds right now,and this is just the bare 272/250 dr...still pondering which power supply to add,I am hoping to demo the xps dr soon.

@ No quarter.

I never tried to take a picture with my phone, I will give it a try!

Who knows!

But I seriously  doubt, it will make a difference, they look pretty much the same, sometimes I think most of this stuff is in our heads.

But one thing for sure, a 20K hi fi rig, sure sounds better than a 8K hi fi rig, and it alt to! LOL.....

Thanks No Quarter, gave them a call, spoke with them on the phone, on two occasions, they haven't got back with me!  The nice young explained that they got my email, and she passed the information along, however, no response, maybe the firm or company that was actually constructing the shelves have relocated, or quit the business. I will check again for a third time, then perhaps move on!

In your spare time if you could give them a call, I would appreciate it!

Once Again Thanks!

I just stopped by Bay-view glass,they said they were waiting for more information from you,and that they had sent you an email.Anyway,they remembered me,and they pulled up my order with the dimensions i used,so they have those,they just need you to either call or email with the go-ahead.One thing they said though,was that you were asking about holes in the shelves,the ones i ordered had no holes,just flat,champhered,tempered gray shelves,so you need to clarify that,it took about a week to get mine after i ordered them.

Thanks No Quarter, I will give them a call!

But holes in Glass Shelves, anyhow simple, same dimensions and same Glass!

You have a Fraimlite, I have Fraimlite!

I have 18 Naim Cups & Balls, awaiting 6 Glass Shelves like yours!

If it matches the following Spec's, it should just be fine!

 {{Measurements of Naim Glass, this is the spec I was given courtesy of Steve J}}

The measurements are 343mm x 454mm 10mm bronzed toughened safety glass with 45% chamfered edges. BS 6206 Class A.

HH posted:

It's 45 degrees you want, not 45%.

bronzed = tint

toughened safety glass = toughened glass

45 degree = the angle cut

BS = British Standards

6206 = perhaps standard code?????

Class A = perhaps top quality?????

chamfered edges:???????

chamfered glass edge is known in the trade as an arriss, it is normally applied to all polished toughened glass in the uk. it is also 45 degrees the differences being some companies do 1mm arriss some 1.5mm etc

Wonder what Naim uses, 1mm or 1.5mm?

Thanks a million, No Quarter, The Forum at its Best!

I will simply ask, What Spec's did they apply to your order, 1mm, or 1.5mm chamfered edges.

Not to give them to much information, the following should be suffice: % = Degree!

The measurements are 343mm x 454mm 10mm, bronzed, polished toughened safety glass with 45% chamfered edges. BS 6206 Class A.

 Wow, a lot of information derived from the Forum!

i did not ask for any particular chamfer,he said it is standard practice to chamfer the edge of custom sizes,it is on the top and bottom of the shelf,hard to tell if it is 1mm or 1.5mm without bringing home a vernier from work...then,is it measured across the flat of the chamfer,or sitting square to the main flat of the glass?i really can't see it making a difference either way,good luck.
