Please check Naim app 5.1 slide-over hanging

Posted by: noname on 09 January 2017

I reported an issue to Naim support just before Christmas:

This is a note to let you know, if not already aware, that there is still a problem using slide-over under iOS 10.2 with the iPad Pro 9.7in model I am using. After deleting the app and doing a fresh install to re-initialise, the app appears on the scrolling list of apps available for slide-over. When selected, find rooms shows the available rooms but when one of these is selected it hangs trying to reconnect. Eventually the Naim app and the main app both crash. If I manage to pull-down in the Naim app only a partial list of other available apps appear and none of them can be selected.

After a reminder today, Phil says that they have not been able to reproduce the problem and no one else has reported it. Every time I try this the Naim app hangs trying to reconnect when used as a slide-over app. I can slide it back and out again but that usually leads to a crash. Mine is a 128Gb model. Do not have any problem with any other app I have tried.

if you have access to a similar model can you please try using the Naim app from the slide-over list, if you have not already done so, and report back what happens.

Many thanks

Roger Henry

Had confirmation now from Naim (thanks Phil) that the landscape mode slide-over issue is still on the to-do list is not fixed in 5.4

And disappointingly still not fixed in the latest 5.5.

Yeah - I also tried it and it doesn't work in Landscape.

And even more bizarre behaviour in 5.6

I have managed to get it to work once in split-screen by some tortuous route I cannot reproduce, but slide-over in landscape mode appears not to be one of the various crashes that Naim claim to have fixed.

I have just checked my own iPad Pro 9.7" running iOS 10.3.1 and version 5.6 of the Naim app. For me slide-over works in portrait mode whether I start from the Naim app or another app. In landscape mode slide-over works if I start from the Naim app but not if I start from another app (i.e., sliding over from that app to start the Naim app). The latter appears to cause the Naim app to freeze.

Yes.

Of course, sliding the Naim App over say Safari while you are browsing (most likely in landscape mode) is exactly what we would most likely want to use for a quick change to the volume or input of our chosen "room". We should also then be able to slide over further to have both apps running in split-screen. Ideally I would like to do this with perhaps Apple Music, Spotify etc as the main app.

Also, I often find that it is not just the Naim app freezing but after a while it causes both apps to crash out.

Basic functionality that should just work.

Yeah - it only works as Stephen has stated.

I would also want the slide over to work as noname has suggested!

C'mon Naim - can we have a commitment that you will fix this....
