New Uniti range and SQ

Reading some comments on this forum by people who had the chance of listening first-hand to the ATOM or the NOVA I got the impression that beyond the looks and the more open platform adopted there seems to be a real sound quality benefit in the new Uniti range. Reading the report by Andrew Everard I understood it as saying at some point that some "NDS/NDAC" level filtering etc has found it's way in the new products. Could it really be that the new range might, sound-quality wise, match/outperform the current ND5 / NDX dedicated streamers (in which case talking about a revolutionary product might indeed be more than a marketing hype)?

Hi DRPO, since there are no production units out there it's a bit difficult to comment on this one. People who have had the opportunity to listen to a ATOM were listening to a pre-production unit.

As Andrew describes, I think you must read this as that some of the NDS/NDAC characteristics are heard in these newer units which seems logical to me. It seems rather unbelievable that these new Uniti models will match or even outperform the NDX steamer ...

It will be hard to compare a stand alone streamer with an all in one system, or maybe a bit pointless. You would not buy a Nova or Atom to be part of a system with separate pre and power amps.

But the pre and power amp sections of the new range  may be as important in terms of sq than the new streaming platform.

Spot on Claus;   I heard an Atom vs other units a few weeks ago.  Its impressive considering size & what it was driving.  But 272/250 raised the game & more so with NDX/500.  And they all played the same selection of tracks & IMO the most impressive was a 16/44 CD rip.

Thanks, this seems to settle the question - hopefully we will all have soon a similar opportunity to listen to what the new Gen products can do!
