moon neo ace

Hi,
Just heard about the delay of the new line so started reading the hi fi magazines again. And i read a review about the moon neo ace in what Hifi .
Never heard from this brand but that's also because i am not up to date anymore. So if you have any info or even listened to this brand please share your
thoughts ? Much appreciated .
Have you thought of an ex dem SuperUniti? It's not a new Uniti, but then neither is the Ace.
The moon ace got many awards and good reviews. I had it on my radar for a while as a natural contender with naim (I will add Hegel all in one too)
The spec of the moon are very good and this machine deserve a listen. The issue is in the price as close to 3k and in direct competition with star.
the atom even if relatively expensive versus the present qute2 is an interesting proposition. Very hard to find a competitor in that price brackets...
when you hit £3k, it gets crowded with moon, Hegel, star, nova, linn,...
it all depends on your budget. You can also go superuniti as suggested. All I will say is that if your budget is circa 3k, I recommend you read and listen to some of the competition. Always healthy
Simaudio (Moon) is a well established and well respected Canadian company specialising in high end hi-fi. I haven't heard that particular unit, but I have heard some of their high end amplifiers which sounded extremely good indeed to me.
I would have no hesitation in buying one of their products, although would probably audition this unit alongside something like the SuperUniti as suggested by HH.
Absolutely - it's always wise to compare. I only suggested the SU as the OP wanted a Naim product. The SU will be the closest alternative to a new Uniti, but other things may, of course, be better.
Hi CP62,
I tend to think of Moon as Canada's Naim, though clearly not as good as the original (!)
For streaming duties, Moon does an excellent little streamer (at least I think that's the correct term) called the Moon 180 MiND, which connects between a NAS/your network and your choice of dac to control the replay of digital music. It seems to be a wonderful little device.
After an extensive audition of phono stages to replace a Dynavector P75, I ended up buying a Moon 310LP/320S and am incredibly happy with both it and its 10 year warranty.
The Moon Ace was demonstrated at last year's Indulgence Show and sounded very capable at its price point.
So, a very well regarded & established manufacturer with a well reviewed product. As good as its Naim equivalent? Only a demonstration will answer that for you.
Hope this helps, FT
I had the moon 180d before and it's a very vfm and capable streamer. The only Sim audio product I had and a positive experience. In fact Canadian Hifi has always been good Hifi to me.
I have heard the Moon on a couple of occasions and liked it a lot - intuitive interface as well, plus MM phono input which is handy for me. If it wasn't twice the £££ as the Atom I would seriously have considered it - now that the Atom I have already paid for is out of sight timewise I will seek a refund and revisit the Moon again !
Hello - I auditioned the Neo Ace 3 times over about a 2 month period. I was shopping Naim (separates), Classe Sigma 2200i (all in one), and the Neo Ace (all in one). The Moon product was absolutely a great value. I had great deal of sticker shock about this stuff, but in comparison to the competition the Neo Ace was a very good value proposition. It is very well constructed, offers a full feature set, inputs/outputs, and a very nice app for control.
Initially I was planning to look at Naim all in one gear...and I did. Then the dealer showed me the difference between the Uniti line and the separates. I enjoyed the Naim separates better than the Classe and Moon, so that's what I bought. That being said, the Neo Ace is a winner, especially at the price point - compared to the other options.
Hi CP62
I Have the Moon Neo Ace, ( and a Muso) it replaced a Naim unitiqute 2 that i had to replace because i was having a lot of nose coming from the qute2 due to the fact that i live in a flat (12 flats in block, i am the 9th flat and i am positive the problem was coming from the mains).
The Moon Neo Ace is Smooth and controlled, has a wide detailed soundstage, each instrument has its own space, is absolutely superb at low volumes with my Totem STAFF speakers. Vocals are very clear, the Ace lets all the emotion shine thru, prat is good, but not in the same league as a naim, the only area you may find wanting is with hard rock and metal. For the price the Ace is excellent value for money.
If you can i would go to your local dealer an get a demo of the Ace and a Uniti2 and maybe a SU, then try and get a home demo of the ace with your own speakers and room.
