Help me find this album?

Posted by: Bruce Woodhouse on 04 August 2011

Last weekend we heard a really beautiful choral track on RTE Lyric FM's evening show 'The Magic Carpet'. It had a fantastic other-wordly feel, reminded me vaguely of the 'Les Mistere Des Voix Bulgares' recordings.

The playlist on the website gives all the details;

Track Name: The Deceptive World
Composer: Traditional / John Hearne
Choir: The Hamrahlid Choir
Album Title: Icelandic Folksongs
Record Label: ITM
Record Catalogue Number: ITM 8-05
Duration: 04:17

....which should be simple to track down but I'm having no joy. I don't seem able to find ITM records, Amazon show the CD is unavailable and my only other thought was Sterns World Music catalogue-but no success.

Can anyone suggest anywhere I might track this down. Google has let me down!

We discovered this radio show during a holiday in Ireland, it is a great Sunday evening listen, ecelectic classical with a world/folk music twist. It has become a regular through iRadio on the Qute (and now HDX!). The piece can be heard online if you are curious, it is the penultimate track at about 1 hour 47 on the show 31st july, available here;

Sounds interesting Bruce. Could this be it:

Label is wrong, and no mention of Hearne as composer, but everything else fits.

You can buy it at the Amazon link in my first reply - I just compared track 11 on both sites and they sound the same.

Doh! I did not quite work that out . I've never bought from the US site but don't suppose it is a problem.

Thanks for searching it out Nigel
