New Kudos Titan 707
Posted by: Jonas Olofsson on 17 January 2017
The rumours been many but now it's official: Kudos new speaker, Titan 707 will be introduced at the Bristol Hi-Fi Show.
A smaller one box speaker but with the Titan sound is what to be expected.
A new reference in its class?

will it cost less?
Yes. I guessing here but maybe 60% of what a 808 costs. But I don't know yet.

Interesting - active operation possible too.
£9/12K I understand. I'm probably going to make the trip on the Saturday - if for no other reason but to drink coffee with other like minded nerds!!!!

9 to 12 k?
oh well.
If one reads CES 2017 stereophile report hi end rooms have much less visitors this year.
How many people are that interested in a 9 to 12 K speaker? Raise your hands please
Daft 'teaser' photo...

Enough to justify the development.
It's still a lot of money.
Aren't two models being introduced -one at c. £8,000 and one at c. £13,000?
I'd raise my hand to the earlier question. Just hope it is not too bright.

Well, that, and higher, is about the range where speakers that can do deep bass well tend to be found, so very much yes, though not in the market at present, and not saying I'd necessarily be interested in this one.
Dynaudio make x38 and x44 which can do deep bass and cost lot less than 9k

As do others, depending on what one defines as deep - however based on speakers I have heard, I have a preference for transmission line bass to reflex, and they tend to be more costly to produce (I haven't heard Dynaudios). If I was looking at present ranges of speakers I'd be auditioning PMC Fact 12 and their SE series, though would be happy to include a few others, so why not Dynaudio if feasible - however in practice unless it is an insurance claim I'd expect to be looking at them all secondhand, so not actually spending that sort of amount.
Analogue - I think you're being a little too sceptical. I think we should be championing the fact that manufacturers are willing to commit to developing high end products that further our indulgence in music. And yes Dynaudio and others makes tempting alternatives. It's all good.

Hi Lindsay, yes you are right.
It is actually my mistake, I always thought (not sure why, maybe wishful thinking) the T808 was a 10 K speaker it is actually a 20 K speaker.
If we can have titan quality at half the price, this is excellent news and a move in the right direction.

You can
The original Titan should not be counted out, an amazing speaker and comparing Dynaudio to Titans just prove you haven't heard the stuff.
We should applause Kudos for bringing us real highend loudspeakers for later technology and knowledge implemented in lower models
Any Ovator/Focal owner should worry
well I love Dynaudios - they work extremely well with Naim....
With the law of diminishing returns kicking in we can expect to get 85% of the sound of 808 for the price of 60%.
Will it be better then the older Titan 88?
Im going to Munich to find out in May, it will be properly displayed there also from what I heard.

Have you ever heard the like priced Dynaudio speakers?
I have, the Dynaudio Evidence and Confidence line, are more than a match to the original and current Kudos Titan speakers.
Naim used Dynaudio to show what the Statement amps are capable of!!!!

Just imagine what they would be capable of if they had auditioned the Statement with Titans

Spoken like a true Kudos owner, but don't fret, wishful thinking is a mighty powerful persuader! ![]()
Onto more relevant matters, any clue as to whether the 707s are isobaric?
I never heard a Kudos speaker, but if the T707 is an endgame speaker, then it would generate some interest, as the price of the Titan 808 is 20K, which is 552 preamp level of cost.
On the other hand, only companies which spend lots of money on R&D and make their own drivers like Dynaudio, B&W, ATC, Focal usually achieve the very best results (and charge lots of money for this), which is why Proac is well loved, as they give very good performance, but don't charge an arm, leg, and your shirt for that. Sonus Faber is an exception, but their speakers look like fine italian furniture, but sound absolutely amazing.
If there is one speaker that sounded amazing to my ears it is the Sonus Faber Olympica 2 , but that's a 7000 GBP speaker
I hope the titans can show that Olypmica 2 speaker a clean pair of heels, for this kind of money, it does take one hell of a speaker to beat olympica 2
When is the Kudos 707 going on sale?
By the way, isn't there a revamped range of speakers from Sonus Faber due out soon?
Not much info around yet apart from the Kudos news page
The Titan 707 is a smaller, single-box version of the flagship 808 loudspeaker that will be affordable to a wider range of budgets.
Expect world-class drive units crafted exclusively for Kudos by renowned Norwegian specialists SEAS; complex cabinetry designed to enable a stunningly life-like sound; Kudos’ trademark minimalist, low order crossover, made possible by seamless matching of all drive units and, like the Titan 808, the ability to run in active mode with high-end systems including both Linn and Devialet.
The 707 is looking more and more interesting. The 808 is rather like a two box C30 so i wonder if the 707 will be the Titan version of the C (S) 20 ?
From somebody who until very recently was a Dynaudio owner but now in the Kudos camp I would say that both brands work exceptionally well with Naim electronics. The advantage for me of Kudos was greater fluidity, better definition and easier room integration. On the other hand in the right surroundings - they like space and power - Dynas are a compelling listen.
