Tidal - How do you organise your music?

Posted by: Reburner on 20 January 2017

I have favourited all my albums and constructed lots of playlists but TBH it sometimes takes me longer to get to something in 'My Music' as just typing it into the Tidal search box.

Any top tips for organising?

I explore music by searching in Tidal and if an album passes the NigelB listening test, that alsbum gets 'Favourite' status in Tidal and is listed in My Music. I am keen to improve the quality/likability of my Tidal Favourites (My Music) as I still have a huge pile so-so CDs that are never listened to due to impulsive buying habits. I have learned my lesson. It is only albums I save as Favourites in My Music.

I don't bother with playlists in Tidal as there are plenty of sort options for Favourites in My Music. Use Most Recently Added to listen again to a newbie album, or by artist if you think of a particular album by can't remember the name of it.

I'm a bit like you NigelB.

If there's an album I'm interested in I will favourite it and listen to it while I decide if I like it enough to consider buying it, I'm a bit old school like that! If I'm not keen, I un favourite it.

If there are only the odd selected tracks off an album I really ike I tend to save those top tracks to a Playlist. The playlist is then really top selection, and if I see the album come up really cheaply I may buy it. Otherwise the tracks tend to remain in the playlist.

I use Tidal mainly to pre listen to music to avoid buying stuff that actually turns out to be pants! I've bought a fair few of those over the years....And I'm still of the generation that prefers to own though, that dictates my Tidal usage.

Hopefully makes sense?

I have the same issue as the OP. In my set up Tidal quality is excellent and the only thing that bothers me is how to organize the albums in my favorites. My normal UPNP search is based on "genre/album" (this is because my library is quire small). I would love to have a similar option in Tidal.
