Uniti Core / can't see any Network Shares through Naim app

Posted by: Lorenz on 22 January 2017

I'm unable to access any network shares from my Uniti Core.

This was fine when I inboxed the Core at my office and installed it over there (could see Mac (AFP), Windows (SMB) shares plus NAS shares from both QNAP and Synlogy. Importing music worked fine.

Now - once I moved the Core home to another network. I can't see anything. I have 2 Macs and 2 Qnaps. Each and every device sees and connects each other easily - they all see and access the Core's Downloads and Music folder. It's just the other way (accessing any network share (folder) from the Core that fails.

Any help appreciated...

Hi,

maybe: I also saw problems with my Mac network share - they did not show up in the Naim App. After activiating the guest account (Users & Groups -> "Allow guest to connect to shared folders") it worked for me. I never really analyzed the problem any further but it seemed that the core had problems with credentials (even after setting the credentials in the Naim app). I switched now to a different computer which also allows guest access.

Also note that the default workgroup is different the the default workgroup on a Mac.

Maybe this helps.

Hi Jerry,

thanks for your input.

Although the QNAPs are no Macs I will simply give it a try with  guest access (no friend of that for security reasons - but worth a try). Really hope to see some mayor overall improvements with the tomorrow-to-be-released new firmware.

UPDATE & CASE SOLVED

Found an old thread here (thank PETERHA):

https://forums.naimaudio.com/to...29#35920103667435629

The solution – at least in my case – was exactely the same:

I have made two changes in my NAS.
      - Changed the Workgroup name to Workgroup
      - enabled the local master browser

Enabling the Master Browser should have done it.

Workgroup is useless.
