Android app

Naim,
When are you going to update the Android version of the app with the same functionality of the IOS version ?
Android has for some considerable time taken the larger slice of the mobile OS pie.
I’m feeling, in a way, ripped off that you seem, to me, to be purposely ignoring the Android users of your products.
Please, Naim, get with the program and get the Android app up to its rightful version.
Hello All,
Many thanks for your replies and apologies for not coming back sooner.
I’ll start off by stating I'm not clear what UPnP compatibility mode is but ...
My setup is as follows and all has worked relatively perfectly for the last couple of years until a few weekends ago when I unplugged the router/NAS etc to do some decorating.
Unitilite
Focal Aria 906
NetGear ReadyNas 102
Naim app on Android, Samsung phone and Asus tablet
On powering back up, everything worked fine from the Naim front panel/remote but the app ...
With UPnP compatibility mode ticked - I can see the NAS but cannot see/use any Play Queue
With UPnP compatibility mode unticked - I can sometimes see the NAS but can see/use Play Queues
I jumped through all sorts of hoops rebooting and changing settings, including reinstalling the app, on NAS/Unitilite/Android devices
Eventually downloaded the Naim app on my wifes IOS device and that all worked as expected
Then switched back to the Android devices and they then started working perfectly well, this is with UPnP compatibility mode unticked
The trigger seemed, to me, to be related to the IOS device doing something
However, jubilation short lived, since then the most annoying issue I’ve had is that the Android devices intermittently find the NAS, the front panel and remote are fine.
It seems to be pot luck as to when one of the Android devices app decides to recognise the NAS
The initial post regarding getting the Android version of the app up to speed was borne because of the lack of issues I’ve found when using my wifes IOS device, which in fairness, the use, has been fairly
minimal, compared to the recent annoying, seemingly, flakiness of the Android app. Coupled with discovering the Spotify’esque Artist/Album/Track info which was a dream come true only to now find it’s not
going to make it to the Android port at all ! and then comparing version #s made me think that the Android version of the app isn’t getting the limelight, I believe, it deserves.
I'll say it (yet) again.......... why no n-Serve for Android? Absolutely no excuse other than a lack of customer appreciation. Why piss me off when I've spent more on NAIM equipment than most iPhone/iPad owners???

Hi sktn77a,
Although its not going to help you, me or anyone else who has a Unitiserve & uses an Android device, the new Uniti Core will be accessed by the same Naim app that will control Uniti & other ND products. So that will be pretty seamless between devices.
And The Android version is due soon.
But for Unitiserve, its n-Serve on iOS or DTC (Desktop Client) via Mac or PC.
I have an iPod Touch I use for simple metadata (re)tagging and for anything more involved I do it via DTC on my PC.
It works fine for me but i can tell this might not be what you want to hear....
How do you deal with your retagging or other Unitiserve related stuff today? Could always pick up a cheap 2nd hand iPod Touch maybe?

Yes, I thought about this. But even a used iPod touch is a rather expensive remote when I already have a Galaxy S7.

If it's really old, it won't run the current Naim app. I believe the latest version needs iOS9.3.5 or later, so worth checking the spec of an older iPod before you buy one.
I've got an Ipod touch about five years old this won't run the Naim app so it's back to being used a a paperweight.
Strange. My 5 year old iPod Touch with latest iOS update runs n-Serve fine, and the Naim app too. Maybe I'm just lucky?

Point taken!
As I mentioned, there won't be an Android n-Serve for Unitiserve now that the Core is out which uses the Naim app.
So I guess you use the DTC on PC or Mac for retagging and other Unitiserve tasks today then sktn77a?
